Basically, the Mega Man Classic timeline is the story of a panicked world choking on its own contradictions, and people like Dr. Light are the wide-eyed utopians attempting to build a brighter future despite it all

Funnily enough the MMBN timeline comes closer to a peaceful, prosperous utopia

It's easy to look at the constant warring and chaos of the X series' world and think "Wow, Dr. Light sure made things a lot worse", but it seems like it was already like that for other reasons

What's interesting to me is that this actually comes together to create some fascinating worldbuilding: in what sort of world would such a lab NOT be immediately searched?

It's probably already a popular fan theory, but I think the in-story reasons for X5's Zero Virus stages resembling Classic series levels (well, parts of the first and last ones, at least) is due to literally taking place in remnants of conflicts from the century prior
