People keep asking what it's like living in Minneapolis right now. The best description I can think of is this: imagine any dystopian movie or book, except the resistance all have day jobs, snow to shovel and kids in sports.

The media is chock full of people who
a) allegedly share the left's broad goals, and
b) are distressed that the left is Doing It Wrong, pursuing its goals in some misguided way, but puzzlingly
c) do not put their superior wisdom to work accomplishing those goals in a better way!

seeing corporate outlets repeatedly refer to ICE beating the shit out of protesters as “clashes” may be the thing that sends me over the edge

This is it, folks. Stauber has seized the chance to sell off our public lands, skipping critical environmental protections, all for Trump’s profit.

Makes me wonder if it was part of the plan to throw our state into chaos so we’ll be looking elsewhere when they do irreparable damage.
Congress is moving to strip protections from 225,000 acres near the BWCA.

MN Rep. Stauber introduced H.J. Res. 140, a giveaway to Chilean mining company Antofagasta that puts toxic mining next to our cleanest water.

We have 60 days. Contact Congress & vote NO: www.friends-bwca.org/get-involved...

This sucks because this eventual ruling (we all know how this one's going to be decided by the far-right SCOTUS) is going to affect so, so, so much more than sports.
Starting a new thread for West Virginia v. BPJ because BlueSky is starting to time me out of the other one.

West Virginia bans trans athletes as well but this time it's been challenged by a minor.

Michael Williams, Solicitor General for West Virginia, is arguing on behalf of bigotry.

If you are not in Minneapolis right now it is extremely hard to describe the feeling of being utterly cut off and fully under attack by a massive army of masked fascist terror forces.

Definitely a message elected officials have to send out in a "great" country that's not at all an authoritarian police state, yep yep yep yep.
Dear neighbor,

HIGH ALERT‼️ If you are vulnerable to deportation please stay home today. I’m sorry to say this but it’s not safe to be outside. ICE is tearing families apart.

Children of immigrants please keep your family safe.

The thing about the Cracker Barrel uproar is that it’s a perfect illustration of how these people are in charge of everything, they’re running the entire country and diminishing Dem power at every turn and they are STILL UNHAPPY. Their entire brand is “angry and oppressed” and it always will be.

Instagram adding a map feature where you can literally find the address someone is at feels bad!

Anyway... here's an article telling you how to turn that off.

Took the e-trike out for another spin last night, this time around Lake Nokomis while the sun set. Another beautiful evening for a ride 🥰

Rode an e-trike (rented from @mplscargobikelibrary.com) to Mayorpalooza last night. I don't know how to ride a bike, so this was my first ride EVER. I loved it! Can't wait to try it again!

Grateful to live in such a bikeable city and to the bike library for helping me discover the joys of cycling.

A planet 400 light-years away, HIP 67522 b, may be triggering solar flares on its host star. These flares heat and puff up the planet's atmosphere, which could shrink over time. Jupiter-sized now, but maybe not for long.
