Let's do a proper introduction thread.
I'm Em (they/them), a #neurodivergent ( #ActuallyAutistic and #ADHD) #queer #author from the Netherlands. I did my BA at ChiUni in the UK and returned to the Netherlands after my studies. I live with my partner and 3 cats (Kuro, Aka and Niji).

When I started with #gunpla last Sep (made the decision on my birthday 🤣) I had two kits at the top of my list that I desperately wanted, the MG Wing Zero Ver.Ka and the MG Barbatos. Well, today I managed to get my hands on one of them! Welcome home #WingZero! Also grabbed the brand new RG Wing Zero

these one-click AI edit buttons are incredibly appealing to many photographers, amateurs and professionals alike, and are framed as innocuous

Scroll on… A cool-looking Red-tailed Hawk that someone is wondering which subspecies it might be - right up my alley! But when you zoom in on the photos literally every feather group has been so heavily manipulated and altered by AI editing that it’s impossible to determine subspecies because the photo is essentially fake now; just a mashup of whatever AI thinks parts of a Red-tail should look like. Scroll on… WOW! That’s a remarkable trail cam photo of a Bobcat! It almost looks like a painting!… but the head looks oddly small…. hmmmm. After some prodding the original photo is produced and sure enough it had been so heavily altered by AI ‘post processing’ that the photo posted was essentially a digital mock-up with totally different proportions and fur markings. No longer the photo off the trail cam; it may as well have just been ‘created’ by AI from scratch. This stuff is killing me. My days on social media are becoming very limited. We can’t even trust simple, everyday photos of animals to be real. The wildlife community needs to quit editing with AI, and we need to start calling out photographers that are using it. Our reality is being destroyed all around us.

"Write what you know" itself is terrible advice when given by people who don't grasp its meaning.

It means "do your research", not "only write your personal, lived experience".

This is so soulless, I can't stand it. We have BRAINS. We can USE THEM.
Al is also changing how we communicate. With so little free time and so much pressure to be perfect, many who've never cooked a turkey might have a chatbot walk them through the steps, feeling safer asking "stupid questions" in private. People even report using Al conversation prompts to get lively discussions going at the table. Al can generate the toast, the prayer, the party games and the poem read before dessert.

It's was a really fun mini to paint, the sculpt is pretty great, despite some simplifications made to allow the model to be push fit (the gap between the cable and the legs isn't hollowed)
