one thing i've been wondering about the moda center renovation - how would capacity of the venue change? how many seats are they going to remove, and how many new box seats are they adding? feels like the trend is for arenas these days is to replace cheap seats with very very expensive seats

If left labor hadn’t kept the Portland Police Association out of the labor council, NOLC would likely be supporting PPA’s raid on the Portland Clean Energy Fund now instead of the police being supported by just some huge developers & capitalists.

These institutional battles have huge consequences.

Dubious land use policy suggestion: What we need to do is put more seniors and low income people on the urban periphery, where they'll have to own a car to get anywhere, where transit doesn't work, and where they can't walk anywhere.

I feel like Republicans are going to see this and think they have a shot at state office this year when, in reality, they still don't have a snowball's chance in hell.

Sure, we're disgusted with the Democrats. But they still aren't even half as bad as the Oregon Republican Party.
Changes in Oregon party registration since the 2022 primary election:

NAV +139,588
Ind. Party of Oregon +17,600
Republican +203
Democrat -32,405
Oregon's monthly voter registration numbers are out today. Here are the month-over-month changes.

Total: +3,849
NAV: +3,771
Ind. Party of Oregon: +215
Other +144
Democrat -101
Republican -180

Isn't this basically the idea behind the "Rose Quarter" that no one ever goes to unless they're going to an event at Moda or the Colliseum?

Waymo wants to operate in Portland.

This AV bill being pushed by the legislature, HB 4085, has 8 sponsors. None of them represent Portland.

City of Portland opposes the bill.

Tell me again why it's time for this bill?

You know what they’re going to store in those warehouses?

People
In the last month ICE has bought warehouses in:

- Hagerstown, MD: $102 million
- Surprise, AZ: $70 million
- Hamburg, PA: $87 million
- Tremont, PA: $120 million
- San Antonio, TX: $82 million
- El Paso, TX: $123 million
- Social Circle, GA: price unknown

This is unprecedented.

fellow engineers,

you really need to start asking yourself some questions when building something:

1. how will the police use what i'm making?
2. what kinds of people are the police going to use it against?
3. how many people will be harmed in silence before we find out?

Swear to god, ICE could just announce they're leaving a city but not leave and the media will just stop covering that city completely even though ICE never left.

It's what ICE and the media did with LA and they're doing it with Minneapolis too

Utah lawmakers sweep their own study on care for trans kids under the rug as they push to ban it
“They have no intention of actually using the data,” a Utah health provider treating transgender youth said.

For Democrats, or overall? There are a lot of IFs involved.

If you don't count Trump? And we didn't have 2.5 more years to elections? Sure.

But that's an imaginary scenario.

Even without Trump, that doesn't make him a viable candidate. He'd have a hard time even winning CA, and that's a big 🚩

That might not be what was meant, but the way it's written reads as saying Oregon is just "black bloc goofin." The contrast sets that up, whether it was intended or not.
