Castro said that he and @crockett.house.gov met with other children at Dilley, including a two-month-old baby. Castro wants to note that none of the people in Dilley have committed a crime. But that many of these people are now broken by what they have endured.

Pay for good public transit with this one weird trick
I find "America isn't really set up for it" to be an annoying rebuttal to any sort of proposal to reduce car dependency. Our leaders used policy to create a system of car dependency and we can sure as hell use policy to undo that. There are absolutely barriers, but do nothing is not a solution.

Society is a construct. You can just ask someone to do a ska cover of Faith of the Heart and they'll say "$300 please" and you give it to them and then you have it.

Everyone, give

An Oregon pilot program giving cash to homeless youths sees a staggering reduction in homelessness. The program gave participants $1,000 cash payments each month for two years, and at the end of the project's first phase, 91% of participants reported being in stable housing.

We should follow suit. Instead of silver-bullet mega projects, we need a basket of solutions. For example, we do need to improve freight movement, particularly to the critical industrial areas in N and NW Portland. As it happens, there's a good route available. It's just missing
