Executive dysfunction, a conspicuous lack of marketable skills, and a paradoxical ambition to build a better society from the ground up.

Growing up, I recall a lot of people asking, "How could the German people let this happen?" but no one ever asked, "Would they have let if happen if they could effortlessly access detailed information about current events and history and had also been warned all their lives to not let this happen?"
I know that people on Bluesky and in left-wing spaces as a whole hate hearing this, but barring some sort of Damascene conversion experience, the only way awful people become less awful is through positive reinforcement when they take their first tentative steps in a positive direction.

Saw someone repost this but, folks, this is literally the liberal position. It doesn't get more liberal.

It's SO strange that they felt compelled to retain an allusion to the original Microsoft partnership but also to create a ridiculous backronym that changes the meaning of those letters.

Awful, awful branding.
Today, MSNBC becomes @ms.now: MS NOW – My Source for News, Opinion, and the World.

While our name has changed, who we are has not. You’ll find the same commitment to justice, progress, and the truth.

Same mission. New name.

one thing you should not discount is the idea that if the party is obviously going down in flames, that every Republican he has dominated is going to want to kill and eat him. i am not being metaphorical.

Merrick Garland left a standing impression that no one powerful will ever be held accountable. Democrats should rectify that by saying, loudly and every hour, that people who act on illegal orders will face punishment by the next DOJ.
Dems can say: Are you really sure you want to trust Trump, of all people, when he tells you that what he’s directing you to do is lawful, and that you’ll be protected later as a result? That’s a tenuous position for anyone to put themselves into—and Dems should not hesitate to say so.
Awful: Trump's boat bombings are now being justified by a new legal memo that relies on WH's own determinations as evidence. Memo also says people can't be prosecuted for the killings. But that reveals WH knows there's legal vulnerability here, Ds tell me.

TIL there are people who deny the Satanic Panic ever occurred, despite a vivid public record of it having been platformed on television CONSTANTLY, leading to court cases that sent many real, identifiable people to PRISON for YEARS.
The number of dudes saying they grew up playing D&D in the 1980s Bible Belt and say the Satanic Panic never happened and is a myth made up by anti-Christians is striking.
Just Blocked my third.
My patience with delusional fuckwits is zero and I'm not giving them a platform for their stupidity.

Tens of millions of Americans are so thoroughly awash in propaganda that while they may stop supporting Trump after it becomes clear to them that he's stolen from the public and raped children, they will not under any circumstances consider that the Democratic Party might be a better, alternative.
Barber update: He’s pissed. Thinks Pam Bondi should be in jail, Trump should be impeached. Still doesn’t like Democrats but thinks Republicans are screwed for years.

The two events looking back that get him the most:
-tech CEO’s at the inauguration
-the Trump coin pump and dump

Among a preponderance of disturbing observations about the electorate, I have little doubt the President of the United States could survive the exposure of physical evidence that he'd raped hundreds of underage girls, but could never survive the revelation that he'd had one (1) homosexual encounter.
Mark Epstein asked his brother Jeffrey Epstein whether Steve Bannon could confirm if Putin has “the photo of Trump blowing Bubba. Jeffrey Epstein: "I thought I had tsuris,” using the Yiddish term for troubles. #OpDeathEaters

Somebody actually posted to Nextdoor about the impromptu anti-ICE rally in Buffalo and I briefly thought, "Maybe the users of this site aren't so bad." Then I opened the comments and saw a dozen repetitions of the word "illegals," plus people straight-up cheerleading for ICE as they would the Bills.

the key problem here is that the threshold for "publishable info" is a moving target and it moves to Trump's benefit
As a former member of NYT’s finance team & the co-author of this story exposing the relationship between Epstein & Bill Gates as well as one on Epstein & JPMorgan, I am really frustrated to see people claiming that NYT sat on publishable info about Trump and Epstein 🧵 www.nytimes.com/2019/10/12/b...

I'm not much moved by the generally negative initial reception for this movie, because I recall people being pretty down on I Am the Pretty Thing that Lives in the House, and that's probably my second favorite cinematic ghost story of all time.
i like Osgood Perkins' movies more than most, and the same is true of Keeper, which hinges on an incredible performance from Tatiana Maslany:

in online corners like these I think people largely recognize how credulous, unprincipled opposition to "wokeness" functioned as lightly papered over defenses of impunity, but it's one of those drums people should probably start beating for normies
Something absolutely perfect about Larry Summers riffing about the scourge of woke cancel culture being unfair to predatory men in a friendly email to his pal JEFFREY EPSTEIN.

We are invited to assume that the New York Times did not know what Epstein was telling Landon Thomas about Trump. I decline to extend that charity.

If Epstein wanted the NYT to write about it, he should have made it about a Democrat and gotten a white nationalist hacker to leak it to them.
