Executive dysfunction, a conspicuous lack of marketable skills, and a paradoxical ambition to build a better society from the ground up.

Growing up, I recall a lot of people asking, "How could the German people let this happen?" but no one ever asked, "Would they have let if happen if they could effortlessly access detailed information about current events and history and had also been warned all their lives to not let this happen?"

They spent years close-reading every left-wing message from college activist groups for hints of anti-semitism and now the most heavily armed domestic agency does a new Nazi meme post every week and they’re like “Odd but not really front-page news, you know? Doesn’t look like anything to me.”

It’s beyond insane that our overarching internal security agency has spent months tweeting barely-coded messages of support for neo-Nazi groups and the entire media apparatus looks at it and says “That’s odd but certainly not part a major story that is relevant to current events, I’m sure”

You may disagree but I'll stake my life on there being more police officers who want to retain their power over municipalities than want to cede all of it to the feds in support of mass deportations, violent suppression of dissent, and resolving Stephen Miller's inferiority complex.
January 10, 2026 at 3:10 PM
And sorry to break it to you folks, but in the society we currently inhabit, there are no legal consequences without cops. There needs to be an effort to get some of them on our side. There just does. Unless you plan to raise an armed militia to fight a siege that's already underway, which... c'mon.
January 10, 2026 at 3:10 PM
Will the mass transfer of LEOs to ICE create more chaos and violence? Yes. But if we don't force a confrontation between them and local PDs, they'll continue brutalizing people until civilian resistance is worn down or pushed to violence of its own. It's either that, or *legal* consequences for ICE.
January 10, 2026 at 3:10 PM
And please carefully consider what the effect of that will be: ICE will be empowered with more cops and the police will be weakened, but WE will be stronger for having the remaining cops, more or less, on our side. Then, after defeating fascism, we can square off against a weakened police force.

You may disagree but I'll stake my life on there being more cops who want to retain their power over municipalities than want to cede it all to the feds in support of mass deportations, violent suppression of dissent, and resolving Stephen Miller's inferiority complex. We've got to drive that wedge.

If you write off all cops in this situation, then we have to commit to fighting ICE and police at the same time. Do you really envision that going well for us, Pollyanna? You need to defeat the greater threat first, which is a federal government committed to steamrolling civilians AND local police.
January 10, 2026 at 3:10 PM
I know a lot of people will whine that they don't want cops on their side at all, but tough shit. ICE is brutalizing people with impunity; we don't have the luxury of fighting back AND maintaining ideological purity. People power is not going to be sufficient. The state has guns and money, you know.
January 10, 2026 at 3:10 PM
If cops prefer ICE over a police force that's been deployed against it, they're free to switch professions. ICE has the budget to pay for them and wants the numbers. Yes, an influx of trained LEOs would make ICE less incompetent, but that's the price of rooting out sympathizers from police depts.
January 10, 2026 at 3:10 PM
People are predictably replying to this with "many cops support Trump" and yeah, sure, but that's still not an excuse for inaction. Some will defy mayors' orders to confront ICE, some won't. That's called separating the wheat from the chaff. Battle lines are being drawn; we can't pretend otherwise.
If local and state police forces really believe ICE will massacre them en masse—what else could “they have bigger guns than we do” mean?—then that’s *more* reason for confrontation.

Because:
1) No, ICE probably won’t
2) Police have firepower too
3) If you don’t own your streets, what’s the point
This is a bullshit answer. With very few exceptions the ICE guys do not want to die for this regime. Conceding the law to the imagined threat of violence is asinine. If “your” cops feel this way that’s their problem, too.

ICE agents are motivated by fantasies of sanctioned violence and so are cops. We need to leverage one of those delusions against the other. This is a textbook example of strategically allying with a lesser evil in order to defeat a greater one.

It's so stupid that I can understand, for years, the kinds of things that are good for my brain and then one day just... forget all about them.

Like, oh yeah, just sitting and listening to music is not merely pleasant, it's an indispensable tool of my emotional regulation. HOW DID I FORGET THIS??

There are not very many different ways for a free people to take this unambiguous message.
Today in a Minneapolis suburb, a threat from an armed ICE agent to an unarmed civilian woman:

Man, it would really be a shame if one of these Alpha males shot his own dick off.
Welcome to Minnesota, fuckers. Also this is super disturbing because the ICE agent's assault rifle appears to fire as he falls down.

This was filmed by a friend near Chicago and Lake last night.

I glanced at the reaction to the latest shooting footage on the r/conservative subreddit, and I am no longer on the fence about declaring a substantial portion of the US population fundamentally irredeemable.

Respectfully, I think you could have let this one pass unmentioned.

Even as the right is still tut-tutting the use of potty words in reaction to a woman being murdered by an agent of the state, they're ALSO saying that you're at fault if you use *nice* words to mask anger.

Pretty hard to mistake the message that liberals are expected to remain silent at all times.

Imagining the panels of undecided voters that would be all over the TV in a hypothetical contest between Vance and AOC.
Rep. @AOC: I understand that Vance believes shooting a young mother of three in the face three times is an acceptable America that he wants to live in, and I do not. That is a fundamental difference between Vance and I. I do not believe that the American people should be assassinated in the street.

Yes, they’re posting what their hard-core supporters want to see and to imagine themselves doing.

(And that base is unfortunately about 30% of the electorate.)

Hence not editing out the “fucking bitch” at the end.
It's fascism for the Twitch era.

You get to select the player (the regime) and watch them play the first person shooter (assassinate their political opponents). That is their angle here.

They are not posting evidence. They are posting content
Of course they aren't posting snuff video because they think it's exculpatory.

They're posting snuff video because their base takes pleasure in viewing that sort of content.
