Court politics cuts both ways. Trump loves being sucked up to, and he loves distributing head-pat rewards to the suck-ups. What Trump does not love is powerful people starting to treat those rewards as something they’ve earned.

Senate Republicans are bucking Trump on blue slips and Argentinian beef. On his usurping the power of the purse to pay the salaries of U.S. troops . . . not so much.

Really appreciate the words of @eggerdc.bsky.social today. Saturday was never going to magically fix things. I’m tired of the “none of this matters” crowd. Yep there’s a long time to go, it will get harder (& SCOTUS rulings may introduce extra hurdles), and we’re going to have to put in the work.

In Trump's America, "military police are heroic patriots by virtue of being in *his* military police," writes @eggerdc.bsky.social. And the law's only job is "getting out of their way."

Conversely, "people who object to his will—whenever, wherever—are dangerous insurgents who must be rooted out."
