For better or worse, public figures are judged when they die — their character, contributions, beliefs. It's undeniable that millions have mourned Rob Reiner's tragic death, celebrating his talent and contributions. I suspect when a certain public figure kicks the bucket, sentiments wont be the same

The president is using this apparent family tragedy, which as far as we know had absolutely nothing to do with him, to convey the message that if his fans brutally murder his critics, they will receive his support and approval.
Q: A number of Republicans have denounced your statement on Rob Reiner. Do you stand by it?

TRUMP: Well, I wasn't a fan of his at all. He was a deranged person as far as Trump is concerned.

@nyecominetti.bsky.social piece from yesterday important context for today's labour market stats. ALL of the change in the employment rate since the pandemic is due to unemployment - a lack of jobs not a lack of jobseekers.
The reason we thought it worth writing is that I don't think this is obvious to everyone. And even if you know unemployment is rising, you might not know that it 'explains' *all of* the change in employment compared to pre-pandemic.

Now, why didn’t Trump’s lawyers just include the sentence in the quote, like Michael Prescott did?

It’s because Prescott omitted a chunk of quote too. Trump’s lawyers have managed to cut it out of their filing, too, but they’ve done it more cleverly than him. Here’s the missing bit:

Hardly a surprise. Any ‘agreement’ with Trump is just the start of attempts to extort more, as his various tariffs on Canada & Mexico have shown. In that respect, his approach to negotiations is similar to Putin’s. Deals are essentially worthless.

Trump is a weak man. Even in the most powerful position in the world, he still throws tantrums when he feels threatened.
That’s why he dodged the draft. He knew the army was one place where his money and privilege wouldn’t protect him.

Just so we're clear, one incident of alleged anti-semitism by a musician = a major national scandal that should be roundly condemned.

Multiple incidents of alleged anti-semitism from the man leading the race to run the country = a load of nothing that should be completely ignored
