Obviously, if journalists’ friends were being rounded up and disappeared, this administration would be covered differently.

But, since journalists can pop into Caroline Levitt’s office whenever for a chat, *she’s* their friend and the administration is covered accordingly.

Part of the reason Trump et al. are unlikely to pay for these obviously crimes is because the press corps personally likes them.

So, if the next president comes in and tries to hold people accountable, there will be a collective gasp from the press about the fall of democracy.
