In January, I wished for a creative 2025 ✨ A quick mid-year review made me realise I need to push myself outside my comfort zone more 😅
Do you manage to work on your #dataviz goals?
My wishes for a creative new year: 1. More processing/p5.js data viz 2. More data viz with physical objects 3. More data viz consistent with the subject matter (use of icons, images, textures...) 4. Wander further away from data viz specific tools and experiment more Mid-year review: One creative wish out of four implemented (wish number 3). For an area plot and a treemap plot I used images to reflect the causes of deforestation.

I know it’s intentional but we should stop calling everything AI, lumping useful machine learning techniques for science with large language models that tech companies are trying to cram into everything.

Tomorrow - Feb 1 - marks 5 years since darkness again fell on Myanmar, when the military staged a coup and embarked on a brutal campaign of terror against its own citizens that included dismantling the infrastructure that allowed people to stay informed.
