I remember eating oatmeal with peanut butter in my twenties and calling it dinner.
as someone on the zoomer/millennial boundary i feel there's a legit problem with people not knowing how to purchase groceries

In 1970 near the peak of his fame he put out an album that was a real stinker, before going on to make Blood on the Tracks five years later. For anyone making stuff, it's just really to remember: it's ok to swing and miss! To try things that don't work.

that's exciting, latest build includes internal tooling
⚠️ nerd talk

The most recent iOS build includes some of our internal dev tooling. Turns out this was caused by a race condition in our build pipeline. An internal build was running at the same time as the production build, and the build-number got misassigned. I blame DNS.

super useful
I've been really impressed with shovel.report -- replaces a lot of tedium for me. Would be great to get CT logs in there!

I have good memories of square pizza slices as a teenager.
I just saw (not making this up) a SQUARE pizza. And people seemed to be enjoying it. I guess there really are no more traditions or standards. Welcome to the new world I suppose.

I was laissez faire with grading when I taught a class on Entrepreneurship at Williams.

But if I ever teach again, I think I'll be more strict. It's not great for the kids to learn that they can be irresponsible, because their manager at an entry level job won't be so easygoing.
LOL And indeed, all but one of the portfolios have been submitted just in time for the west coast. I am tickled, and let's be real, something like this does not affect their grades.

Really excited about @modretro.bsky.social.

I (mostly) love futuristic tech but get nostalgic for the time before tik tok and rising sea temperatures.

It's nice for me that the cool kids are also into 80s retro.

ModRetro just sold out of their first run but they say they'll ship other products.

A mom just came in SO EXCITED to find a map store bc her son would LOVE it.
She tries to be coy. "My son is... Really into maps. Real special kid."

I'm like, ma'am, this is a map store. Half my customers are on the spectrum. I have a trains and transit section. You're among friends.

This explains a lot. NJ is very pleasant, if you live in NJ. But driving there from Manhattan (where I imagine tv writers lived in the 90s) is something else.
Can I just say, making fun of New Jersey was only ever a thing because the New Yorkers who wrote TV shows in the 90s only knew about three states.

New Jersey is great.

I have known people who behaved like this.
As I've written elsewhere: an LLM doesn’t have the metacognitive abilities to reflect on its past actions and report the motivations underlying them. With no clue why it did whatever it just did, the LLM is forced to guess wildly at a plausible explanation like ill-fated Leonard Shelby in Memento.

Section 31 is an excellent theme but canonically this should be more cloak and dagger and less blowing things up.
Everybody likes action films, but does this really fit in the Star Trek Universe?
I guess we'll find out next month.

Just take a moment to absorb what's contained in this single post, not even the thread beneath it. The President is barred from leaving the country and under investigation for Treason. Also still in charge of the military.

Not great, Bob!
Good morning from Seoul. Still unclear who is running the country. The president is under investigation for treason and has been banned from leaving. But he still apparently remains in charge of the military. Here are the latest details:
