Suburban Dad in Minnesota. Bylines over the years for many newsrooms alive and dead. This feed has mostly nothing to do with that though. It’s dog photos and sports nonsense.

Got more rhymes than I got gray hairs, and that's a lot because I got my share.

Still shocked at how the local TV affiliates read the DHS statement verbatim, *several times* with no qualifiers about recent lies, over the air last night.

What’s next: “ICE was forced to shoot a flash bang at a family with a six month old. That six month old was no angel.”
That is what was relayed

Hey @klobuchar.senate.gov - let’s get to the streets of Minneapolis in front of some news cameras and say “Abolish ICE.”
Mike Johnson: "ICE is doing what ICE is designed to do"
Mike Johnson comes out against additional guardrails on ICE as Democrats call for it.

“I think there's a lot of Democrats playing games right now with national security and with law enforcement. And I think it's dangerous. Ice is doing what ice is designed to do by its very name.”

Minnesota Chamber of Commerce when you try to pass paid family leave so workers can stay home with their newborns for a bit: THIS WILL BE THE END OF DEMOCRACY

Minnesota Chamber when citizens are getting kidnapped and beaten at their jobs by agents of the Federal Government: [Silence]
For decades, executives at big companies in Minnesota have been part of the state’s civic backbone — serving on nonprofit boards, weighing in on workforce issues, joining task forces focused on solving major social issues. Which is why the quiet right now is so striking.
Minnesota’s corporate silence on ICE surge
Major companies in Minnesota have been largely mum on the immigration enforcement operation in the state.

We have to patrol our public schools because ICE agents are rolling up and threatening students, staff, and teachers. Minneapolis Public Schools had to close. They are seemingly taking anyone who is brown.

I can’t put in words how evil all of this is.

mixing state and federal here, but anyone running for governor of minnesota needs to start any presser with “abolish ice” and “the u.s. house needs to impeach.”

With tonight’s news, I’m afraid that I will need to tap the sign again:
I will always be amazed at the ego of those who have not held public office before, or even attended a singular legislative hearing, or sat at a city council meeting, or even knocked on one (1!) constituent door, only to decide, “Yes. I will do it. I will run for Governor of the entire state.”

The Sunday Scaries into a Sunday Night Gubernatorial News Dump is a new one.

(Technically breaking news and not a news dump per se, but ease up, AfterDarkBlueSky™️ is not the time for jargon semantics.)

if you’re lucky enough to have costly insurance (that covers almost nothing), you already have to see primary care to get a referral. And then you have to make sure the referral is in network or covered at all.

why wouldn’t we want to remove the costly premiums/barriers to care currently in place?
For all Universal HC/Single Payer/M4A advocates.

What do the biggest, expensive hospital chains do. Do they opt out and only serve the rich ?

Who in the USA gov runs the program?

R U ok with having to see a primary care doc before you can see a specialist ?

It sure seems like an unhealthy amount of companies that sponsor an NBA jersey patch end up in some kind of hot water.

You know how the first time it snows for the season, everyone takes a horrible photo of it and posts it online?

The Northern Lights are apparently like that, except it’s the complete opposite. All of the photos are INCREDIBLE.
