With this piece of bread on the ground in Ottawa, Canada and the one below in Perth, Australia, @drstip.bsky.social and I have successfully created an Earth sandwich.

The hot dog vs sandwich debate is concluded.

If the Earth is sandwiched, everything is a sandwich.

HAPPY EARTH SANDWICH DAY!

I personally think this is hilarious but also predictable - with the government's decision to move ADHD assessment and diagnosis into primary care without consultation with or funding of the primary care system, for profit ADHD clinics are popping up

My must have Christmas food is brandy snaps filled with custard cream.

This year (like last year) we are having "fancy sandwiches" for Christmas lunch because nobody actually wants to be cooking. Followed by all the desserts we love.

A debt debate that is frozen in time & ideology
Richardson & Willis debt debate assumes 1991-style austerity worked, that NZ faces being locked out of global markets, that the NZ Super Fund doesn't exist & that households can borrow much more

One staple of childhood Christmas was 'carrot jelly'. Grated carrot and parsley set in lemon jelly.

SUCH a dish of the 70s, when everything had to be in a jelly mold.

Actually, I think I've just inspired myself to make it again this Christmas.

OK, Tāmaki Makaurau, the hornet army is on the march. Time to saddle up, cut up some bottles and trap the little bastards before they do any more damage.

MPI has bumped up the zone so if you're inside that purple line it's time to get busy.

NZ is too primed to think that doing without and putting up with awfulness is somehow the most reasonable grown-up stance.

“Dutch people cycle an average of 2.6km each per day. If this pattern was replicated worldwide, annual carbon emissions would drop by 686 million tonnes.

This mammoth figure exceeds the entire carbon footprint of most countries, including the UK, Canada, Saudi Arabia and Australia.” @euronews.com
Cycling like the Dutch would slash the world’s carbon footprint
If everybody cycled like the Dutch, we could offset the UK or Australia’s entire carbon footprint.
