Michael Boulerice called it "absolutely fuckin bonkers, bro."

For real this easily lands in the top three books I've read over the last ten years. Get it by any means necessary
The Night Ship is fishing up some happy netgalley reviews. Someone called it fun, and Publisher's Weekly called it an "unsettling and immersive sci-fi thriller", and that is everything I wanted.

It's still on the 'galley, but if that's not your jam let me know!

My last full day of work this week and i guess i must be excited because Ive been awake since 2am. Gonna crawl across that finish line.
Also, Welcome to Derry sets a bar for dumbest king adaptation and then every week manages to raise that bar higher. And yet i cannot look away.

Home Alone makes changes to the Die Hard formula that render it hard for me to enjoy. The McClain character should feel overawed. And in theory having Kevin be a child versus adults achieves that. But the thing is: Kevin is a god. It's not just Tom & Jerry. This is some random punks versus Anansi.

Playbook | While Marjorie Taylor Greene was celebrated in Washington for forswearing toxic politics, her internal polling showed she'd have to go back to harassing school shooting survivors if she wanted to win another Republican primary.

It’s chilly but I’m out here

Kb complex
Halos, skullcrushers, around the world, figure 8, h2h swings, high pulls
8-10 each side
Rd 1 24lb
Rd 2-5 35lb
The hardest thing about these kettle bell complexes vs my usual circuit is just never setting down the weight

This MTG heel turn thing has me torn between the idea that all the liberals slobbering at the redemption arc are bots and right wing ops and the idea that a lot of liberals are just that stupid and as much as I would prefer the former, evidence strongly leans toward the latter.

Im hoping more people are waking up to the fact that for decades we’ve been held hostage by crybaby liberals who are willing to sacrifice anyone to preserve their comfort and will elect trash as long as the trash does enough performative pillow talk that they can believe they’re fundamentally good
If you'd rather bigots hold trans people's lives hostage instead of trans people hold the comfort of bigots hostage, well OK, that's your calculus, you get to make your choices in democracy—but own your choice. Admit it. Stand on your business. Go curry the favor of bigots and own the results.

As an NP, i wonder to what extent this is part of the larger war on university education because throttling loan availability is going to push more people away from brick and mortar graduate programs into online for profit schools.
The Department of Education is proposing a definition that could strip nurse practitioners and CRNAs of “professional degree” status.

Chiropractors keep it. Nurses risk losing it. And that change would fall hardest on women in healthcare.

This is political and it is sexist.

If you have astigmatism, driving at night is truly an adrenaline sport these days
It is genuinely insane how bright and distracting car lights are now
I wish we, like, regulated shit nowadays. Between car bloat, blinding headlines, and neighbourhoods packed with rental suites but no on-property parking, driving is an absolute nightmare now.

In lieu of a complex graphic assaulting your eyeballs with all 18 stories I've had published this year, please consider this one if you're reading for awards: "The Power Company Detective," eligible in the short story category. Weird horror with no easy answers.

More often than not, at its core, horror to the wealthy is loss of status whereas horror to the non wealthy is more visceral and existential. I’m generally uninterested in narratives that center affluent people, period.

BREAKING: A federal judge finds the Trump administration "did not comply" with his order.
A hearing has begun over the enforcement of a federal judge's order to fund SNAP benefits through November.

Plaintiffs say Trump is holding "full SNAP benefits hostage for political leverage during the shutdown."

I’m on this weird dive about the doldrums lately and finished The Shadow-Line by Joseph Conrad this morning which is autobiographical about Conrad’s early life working as a sailor. The middle section is especially good depicting the creeping madness of being stranded helplessly on becalmed seas

The latest hellhouse LLC - lineage is without question the worst in the series. On top of being terrible, it’s incomplete, basically ending suddenly on a revelation that will be the subject of the next installment, a movie that, if there’s any reason left in the world, will never be made

The weirdest part to me is how the people obsessed with living forever don’t really enjoy living now. They’re the same ones who read chatgpt summaries of books and look down on people who prioritize leisure. So it’s like they want to create a literal hell to exist for eternity on the permagrind.
I hate that I've now learned a new thing our tech overlords have bestowed on incredibly dumb people to toss into the discourse but here's some funny tweets about it
