It’s not illegal to dine with Jeffrey Dahmer. (I chewed the entree, but didn’t swallow.) There’s nothing untoward about getting tax advice from Al Capone. You can’t charge a person for being a pen pal of Ted Kaczynski. There’s nothing illegal about trying on boots with Benito Mussolini.

Next time someone asks you about energy and land use, maybe remind them that the ~35 million acres that currently grow corn for ethanol in the US could produce ~15 PWh per year of electricity from solar photovoltaics. That's ~3.5 times more than *total annual generation from all US power plants*.

There is no pre-Trump world to which we can return. That has all been washed away.

And there is no near future that is not defined by him and the cataclysm of his rule.

Trump making history (not the kind to be proud of)
This is big: the Berlin Wall coming down big.

Yesterday, America’s closest allies declared the U.S.-led global order effectively over, concluding that President Trump’s aggression toward allies was evidence of that demise. #ICYMI

Glad to see at least one leader of a democracy taking off the rose colored glasses and rationally assessing the new world order

Hopefully many more will get there soon

Surprisingly, the preposterous charade really is a preposterous charade. Thanks, @eliothiggins.bsky.social , for illuminating it so clearly.
I’ve been reading Trump’s "Board of Peace Charter," and despite the name, this isn’t a multilateral institution, it’s a centralised structure built entirely around the authority of one person (Trump).

Americans' economic and political pains mainly stem from unprecedented concentration of our wealth, a few dozen mega-billionaires control 12%.

They buy a lot of politicians, media outlets, & influencers to distract from their power by blaming our pain on immigrants, DEI, women's careers...

To get some sense of the pace of Australia’s home battery program

At the pace estimated for this year, even without further growth, Australia could install enough home batteries by 2035 to meet California’s goals for ALL batteries (utility, commercial, residential) for 2045 — 10 years early!!!
Australia continues to install home battery systems at a stunning pace

Analysis below estimates Australia is trending toward installing ~3800 MW in one year

Almost double what California has installed ALL TIME (2200 MW)

And CA has a substantially larger population (~39M CA v ~27M AUS)
Household #battery numbers continue to defy all predictions, and they now look set to match the scale of the entire Snowy Mountains scheme in a single year.

Full EV sales in China reached 35% for December and 33% for all of 2025.

Fully one-third of new auto sales are now fully electric in the world’s largest car market.
China's December numbers are in, and battery-electric cars made up 35% in December and 33% for the year. Plug-in hybrids made up another 21% for the year for a total "new-energy" share of 54% in 2025.
