Many people who want to frame themselves as “moderates” have been getting this wrong for years but there’s really no excuse anymore
Matt Yglesias gets a guest essay in The NY Times to push oil industry propaganda. And he is no different from the likes of Stephen Miller in his approach to the facts. But let's start with his big idea!

"Liberals should support America’s oil and gas industry."

The evidence keeps piling up that — contrary to popular belief — more clean renewables means cheaper electricity

11 of 12 US states with the highest proportion of clean renewables have cheaper than average electricity
Breaking-New @EIAgov data Oct 1 '24-Sep 30 '25

More WindWaterSolar means much cheaper electricity

Of the 12 states with the most (50-121%) WWS supply as a % of demand, 11 have electricity prices 1.9-5.2 c/kWh below the US average

Great thread challenging common beliefs about EU v US economies
It has become received wisdom in Brussels and Washington that there is a new “euro-sclerosis”: that the EU economy is lagging the US

This view is wrong

It’s wild that Trump is trying to kill the top energy source in 6 primarily Republican states (SD, IA, KS, WY, OK, ND) 🙃
Wind is now the largest single electricity generator in 7 U.S. states (for the year from Oct 1 '24 - Sep 30, '25):

SD, IA, KS, WY, OK, ND, NM

Providing up to 85% of demand (in SD)
