Venomous, egg-laying, duck-billed, beaver-tailed, otter-footed mammal. Wait, that's a platypus. Fan of compound adjectives.

I buy & sell antiques & vintage & am a hobby ceramic artist. Rural, progressive mom of 2 adult trans kids. Loves rocks & mushrooms.
If an artist's website says they ship within 3 days & it's been 14 & it's 14 days til Christmas, do you ping them politely & if that's too soon to ping them, when do you?

My poor husband has fallen to the cold. Sadly for him, he has like 36 hours to kick it, because he has to drive me to my re-mammogram an hour away on Friday.

Get busy livin', husband!

PCR test came back & negative for covid! Just a terrible rhinovirus (so the common cold).

Which means that hopefully I should be on the tail end of it tomorrowish. This has been effing terrible.

Every time I get a cold, I think "Damn, I really don't want covid/the flu."

My mom called & I love her soooo much & am glad she's in a great mood, but she was SO talkative & kept saying "& now I'll let you go rest your voice. OH AND!"

And now I have no voice & need a nap 😭

Please Pass the Potatoes is up for donate/free on itch!

This #game is great to teach the social script of passing food around a table at meals. There are also optional coloring pages!

I hope this brightens up a holiday meal for you & your loved ones.

I was really close to my Gramma who passed when I was 19. I grieved HARD.

One night I dreamt I wished her back, but she was like a wind up doll, she kept winding down. It was clear she wasn't herself & no longer belonged with us. The nightmare has stuck with me for 20 years.

Now it's real.

Also, since I'd posted about sleeping through the flood warnings, my family's totally safe.

We do get cut off from the rest of town by flooding (this actually happened to us yesterday morning & we had no idea), but I never stopped keeping the shutdown suggestion of keeping 2 weeks of food on hand
I just got off the phone with the National Weather Service and am alarmed to hear that the Skagit River will peak 4-5 feet above the record crest level. Please please please stay alert and follow evacuation orders. This is not just another flood.

Gonna yeet myself out of bed & do a self care task & a Christmas task so I don't fall into despair about being sick & losing a whole week of Christmas cheer

I had dragged allll my vintage ornaments out to start making an ornament wreath, but I think it's time to sideline that project.

Look at these precious babies! Look at Nettle! Look at her!
Cloud, Phyll, Nettle, and Pyewacket are all available for adoption now! All of them are extremely sweet, social, good with cats and dogs (Phyll would prefer dogs that are small and don’t want to bother him). Please help them find their homes for the holidays ❤️ Elkton, MD crits4cats.petfinder.com

A terrible part of my dad's dementia was when he started the uncontrollable crying. It was one of the meds, but it was terrible. He'd cry all the time.

Watching Trump dissolve before our eyes has been extremely familiar. I can't even imagine what happens to us as a country if he starts the crying.
Every part of this is bonkers. The intro is bonkers. The transition to his health is bonkers. The mention that other presidents didn't need cognitive exams is bonkers. The claim that this screening test is somehow hard is bonkers. The idea that criticism of him is treason is bonkers. All of it.

Slept completely through Monday's flood watch, woke up for 4 days of flood WARNING.

I don't think I can sleep through all that, but I'll give it a go.

Not feeling better at all, the symptoms are just kind of moving around

Some people watching good news from last week. I was picking up my groceries & could hear one of the Gen Z employees earnestly explaining to his coworker why he needs to stay away from all of the betting sites, not just the casino, if he "wants to get his financials together".

Home covid test is negative, so 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️
Pretty sure I have covid for the first time. Flu neg. Didn't test for strep because symptoms didn't fit. So I coulda just picked up a flu/covid test & stayed home

Clinic is back to sending out tests, so I'll know Tuesday (if I don't get a quick test before then).

Had a good run, I fucking guess.

The biggest issue here is that my re-mammogram is scheduled for Friday. I'm really effing pissed off to have to reschedule that. Surely that'll push it past New Year's.

Loving the rural hospital & clinic closures! Love being told the only open urgent care between now & Monday is over an hour drive away

Update, 3 cats
I'm sick in bed. 😭

But 2 of my cats are actively watching The Day After Tomorrow with me & this happens to be the room where I've been hiding all the Christmas snacks.

My husband made me a peppermint mocha & I cozied up the room recently, so I guess things are as good as they could be.
