On Thanksgiving we like to give back to the neighborhood. Thanks to the 15 volunteers who joined me and @evanyeats.bsky.social for our annual tradition. We picked up 15 bags of litter, engaged young kids and high school students in service, and enjoyed good company on this beautiful day.

The act of a chicken who thinks he can't win if the vote reflects what the true majority of his constituents want.
Fresh off grilling elections officials at a hearing yesterday, Wendell Felder introduces a bill meant to delay the implementation of ranked-choice voting.

A similar push failed during the budget talks. And, FWIW, BOE said Monday it was on track to have RCV ready by June...

The other part not mentioned in the article is that there is an extensive free bus system (Cambus) that has worked side-by-side with IC Transit for decades. Weird thing to leave out that probably shaped local perception of the change
“The transit system is one of the greatest tools communities have to combat climate change and reduce emissions,” she said. “You can make a pretty immediate impact.”

A councilmember who won his primary last year with 23.7% of the vote wants to delay implementing ranked choice voting. The at-large CM who won her last primary with 35.9% agrees that making her run for reelection next year under RCV would be a bad idea.
Felder continues to be critical of the election board's capacity to pull off ranked-choice voting in 2026.

"Before we roll out something of this magnitude I would think we need to do a needs assessment," he says to Evans. "You’ve been tasked with an arduous task. It’s unfair."

An ICE agent was caught removing a sign marking an ICE kidnapping in DC last week! Do we think he did it out of anger, embarrassment, or most appropriately shame? If you think what you’re doing is right, why are you trying to hide the evidence? 👀

A victory for the people of DC, despite our Mayor
NEW: The Court has ruled that the National Guard deployment to DC is illegal and granted a preliminary injunction.

As we made clear from the beginning: the US military should not be policing American citizens on American soil.

This is a victory for DC, Home Rule, and American democracy.

Hear ye hear ye! Now that the MBT extension to Takoma is officially complete, #MBTpubroll will spend the next 4 Thursdays (sans Thanksgiving) joyously celebrating this wonderful development! Mark your calendars. Tomorrow we're starting at 5:30pm at Takoma Station Tavern then biking to City State 🚲🍻
Still some finishing touches before it's completely done/open, but the MBT #biikeDC extension up to Takoma alongside Blair was quite lovely to ride this afternoon.

This article was fascinating because the access was engineered by the Mayor's PR team to try and make her look good but the facts on the ground make her look so naive. She's still waiting on the "peter out" of the National Guard and ICE like a rube. Gift link: wapo.st/43thCLr

More funny if you forget that instead of actually caring about sex abuse by elites, the right-wing tried to shoot up a great local music venue
Pizzagate: If you replace the word “hot dog” with “little boy” and “pizza party” with “child sex orgy,” you will see the lengths these elites go to cover up their crimes.

Get your coffee from NOT Starbucks today. Found this resource to help you look for unionized coffee (ty Reddit) but hey— a locally owned establishment will do (as long as they didn’t try to put over 100 additional people on their payroll ahead of a union vote).
