I've seen that they're evacuating entire villages, and that's going to kill a lot of them off. People aren't going to go back. We're looking at entire ways of life ending from this imo.

People outside Alaska need to realize:
Typhoon Halong in Western Alaska has caused perhaps the first, big interregional climate change driven displacement in North America. We need sustained attention/resources on recovery to keep Halong victims from suffering as their worlds are turned upside down.

I appreciated national media covering it, but the headlines with just the number missing/rescued didn't get at it - nearly 2,000 people have been displaced from their homes. With the cost to rebuild, only temporary shelter, and no clear commitments from the feds/state to find a long-term solution

What happens to these batteries when they're broken or no longer useable? What is the disposal process? What is the environmental and local population impact of having these, when it goes up in flames, when there's disposals, when damaged by natural disasters?

How big of a fire does a lithium battery make? What chemicals are then burned into the atmosphere and how much? How much water does it take to put out just one of them? How much water does it take to put out an entire storage site?
