Anyone who lives in any of the country's tornado alleys (Texas, Midwest, Southeast) know exactly how invaluable NOAA weather radio is during tornado season. Life saving.
Please talk about what the NWS does in your day to day conversations. The folks you speak with may have no clue how essential NOAA is to the success of huge swaths of both the private and the public sectors. And you won't know what they don't know until you bring it up.

Every time I read the local news and see a teacher who was awarded a $250 grant for her classroom, I understand that she spent hours of her own time applying for it. Writing it. Going through a submission process.
