Early in human rights career, I marveled at folks darkly mocking habitual regime lies, eg dissidents "falling out of windows" in Russia.

Mind-blowing how many "jokes" US security services have given us: "resisting arrest", "using a vehicle as a weapon", generic domestic terrorism-ing. FFS.

ICE is now targeting Native Americans. I read earlier that some Native Leaders may have been detained, I believe that was in Minnesota.

Guilty as charged! We’re sharing these wishes a little late, our team of course meaning “this year” when they say “next year” 😜 — but straight from The Heart, the historical name of Edirisa on Lake Bunyonyi. Created by Elie Cirhuza from Congo, who has plenty more brewing. Can’t wait to show you!

This Yglesias piece in the NYT is horrifically bad. Almost every "fact" it cites is provably false. At best it is cocktail party banter from a pundit who knows nothing of energy. At worst, it was cut/paste from oil industry talking points. So, a rebuttal: www.nytimes.com/2025/12/18/o...

At least 3,800 immigrant children were detained in 2025. Now, kids are not supposed to be kept more than 20 days

At least 1,300 of them have been held longer than 20 days-some for over 4 months

Amazon workers in Quebec unionized, so Amazon closed all their fulfillment centres in the province.

7 centres shut down. Almost 2,000 people out of work.

This is a massive violation of labour rights.

It’s also an excellent reason to boycott Amazon.
