Just shocking ignorance. Or lying to the rubes. I'm going with the first.
Karoline Leavitt: “You’re either a U.S. citizen or not — You can’t be a U.S. citizen & a citizen of another country”

The Supreme Court thought differently as it ruled in 1967 that the government can’t strip U.S. citizenship unless a person voluntarily relinquishes it - not that they care

Fevers don't always break, but @andreapitzer.bsky.social does a great job reviewing the various ways they do. I don't know the history like she does, but I have also noticed the cracks in the dam.
This may be the last time
I don't know exactly what will end Trump. And neither does anyone else.

And now the lineup with Minott *and* Walsh (and Hauser!) getting the job done. Is Minott the 5? Walsh? (Other two are White and Brown.) #Celtics

Really love Minott and Walsh and all the energy from that 4 spot. What a jolt both of them bring. #Celtics

There is really an unsustainable level of bigoted gutter trash in the United States.
Cammack: "Look no further than Minnesota and the disaster there where the Somalian community has been really the root of all of the waste, fraud, and abuse that we've seen in the last several years."

this guy
RAJU: If defenseless survivors were killed, would that constitute a violation of the laws of war?

MIKE JOHNSON: I'm not going to prejudge any of that. I was pretty busy yesterday. I didn't follow a lot of the news.

On top of the ethical arguments, yes, there's a critical utilitarian one as well.
Since I haven’t seen anyone mention this: When the U.S. commits war crimes it puts our troops in danger also, as it gives a green light to other countries that they can do the same to us

Kelly: He runs around on stage talking about lethality and the warrior ethos.. That’s not the message that should be coming from the Secretary of Defense… He runs around on a stage like he’s a 12 year old playing army. It’s embarrassing.

Inspired me to haul my copy out of storage.

Remember when a cover blurb from Newsweek meant something?

Time for my least favorite time of year -- the "you've heard of Elf on the Shelf, but what about ...." season.

Last year powered by terrible Photoshop skills; this year, presumably there will be a lot of AI slop.

They are blowing up boats for drug trafficking.

Then he is pardoning a drug trafficker.

Illogical.

The problem with fetishizing the rule of law is that people have to break the law to resist fascism, state violence, and oppression. This has always been true, and is very much the case RIGHT NOW.

The DC shooting story is really getting to me because we literally trained this man as a child soldier for a death squad in a forever war and Stephen Miller et al want to blame it on other cultures? It's our culture, American culture, that killed that woman.

So many members of various identities share this characteristic - they seemingly have no cultural memory of being "other," even when it was just a few generations ago. It always stuns me when Italians, Irish, Poles, etc. punch down without remembering getting hit from above.
The fucking irony of this Jew to cape Third Reich white supremacist talking points BECAUSE his grandparents could assimilate into US culture when whiteness expanded just enough for them.

(One day he might find that this same conditional whiteness he was granted is more conditional+ less secure.)
Stephen Miller is now arguing that assimilation is fundamentally impossible and that certain cultures are not compatible with Western civilization

Searing.
The guy shot two random people with a gun, I don't think you can say he wasn't assimilating into our culture

Wtf
RFK Jr says he will end the "war" on saturated fats, contradicting decades of evidence-based dietary recommendations.

"We’re ending the war on saturated fats in this country. So, we’re going to publish dietary guidelines that are going to stress the importance of protein and saturated fats."

Enjoying MTG's rehabilitation from dangerous conspiracy theorist to whackadoodle.
BASH: We have seen these attacks from the president at other people. It's not new. And I haven't heard you speak out about it until it was directed at you.

MARJORIE TAYLOR GREENE: I think that's fair criticism. And I would like to say, humbly, I'm sorry for taking part in the toxic politics.

I'm about that age and I think the sequence went:

1. Jocks get the girls
2. Nerds start getting the girls, they're nicer and gonna be rich
3. Nerds don't realize "nicer" was part of it and stop being nice
4. Nerds stop getting girls
5. Nerds blame girls and woke for not getting girls anymore
You cannot separate the current nightmare we now inhabit from the collapse/crisis in how rich, powerful middle-aged men perceive masculinity, especially their own insecurities.
I’m sorry, but a goofy looking guy who grew up a privileged son of a pediatrician and has a phd in social theory from the university of Goethe and started in tech by investing an inheritance left to him by his grandfather talking about being a “dude” is very, very funny to me.
