CW abuse.

Many people do, in fact, believe survivors. They just don't care. It's a traumatic reality that many survivors confront when coming forward to share their stories.
Not guilty verdicts like the ones in the Diddy case aren’t just a statement of disbelieving women. They are a statement that even if you are believed, that does not mean men should be held accountable for abuse of power.

these are closely related logically consistent positions--both CSAM (/apologism) and persecution of trans children stem from a sense of entitlement over children's bodies & a drive to shape & mold children according to adult desires & power
Kind of wild that the New York Times has more sympathy for an influencer who posted child porn than it does for trans children who want to be left alone.
I've spent years following a right-wing influencer who's made a career out of outrage. I wanted to understand why he does it. What does his career look like, his income? Here's what I found. GIFT LINK www.nytimes.com/2025/06/06/t...

Francis compared trans people to nuclear weapons, said "gender ideology" was "the ugliest danger of our age," and, not coincidentally, dealt with rape accusations against Catholic priests by calling feminism "machismo in a skirt." I know whoever's coming next will be worse, but this is dishonest.
The final honor guard for Pope Francis included migrants, prisoners, transgender people, the homeless and others selected by the Vicariate of Rome as a symbol of the late pope’s mission of inclusion and outreach.

it's epistemicide all the way down. the obsession with trans children in particular is not about "protecting" kids, it's about denying children's epistemic authority, their self-knowledge and ability to act as reliable witnesses to their own lives. sexual abuse is a technology of the gendered order

i really think that people talking about this book should read some of the old "false memory syndrome"/CSA apologist pseudoscience papers (if you can stomach it) because you will be SHOCKED at how similar the language and talking points are--"victimhood ideology is suppressing scientific inquiry"etc
Incredible. It is so unbelievably common that the men accusing trans women of being sex predators are themselves sex predators that just the accusation alone should be seen as a red flag at this point

Abusers might behave badly in the public eye just so that their victim looks worse by association. Abusers know they are not going to be held accountable as long as their victim is viewed as imperfect, which they are. Everyone is. This is a big part of why abuse is so pervasive and rarely stopped.

Abusers will happily contradict themselves as long as it achieves their goal of making their victim look imperfect. Because they know that as long as observers find fault with the victim, even if they also find fault with the perpetrator, then it will obstruct justice for their victim.

i need people to understand "death of the author" means the author can't dictate what you take away from the text, not that you're not complicit in what they do with the profit they make from you buying it in the first place

a reminder that "death of the author" is not a balm to assuage your guilt for engaging w/ media made by hateful people

it's a media theory that ignores author intent, preferring reader interpretation

so sure "miku" wrote it, but you still gave a bigot your money and they're using it to harm folks

For years people have silenced abuse victims by harassing them with the lie that coming forward publicly infringes on due process. Most of those people are silent as the federal government actually explicitly denies the right to due process

This basically translates to “Democrats can abuse whoever they want as long as they don’t call themselves Republicans.” And you wonder why people accept Trump’s abuses? You’re priming them to!

Absolutely incredible that we’re already doing the “you should feel guilty for not supporting Democrats who are abusers” charade before the Democrat in question even wins his primary. Yes, there’s a reason people are fed up with the party loyalists, and it’s in the mirror.
You have a better candidate? Or if one better than Cuomo doesn't emerge, will you choose not to vote out of principle? Keep in mind, you're competing against people even less honorable than Cuomo. It seems 36% didn't realize that—and that's how Trump got elected.
If New York Dems pick Cuomo it does not bode well for staging a meaningful resistance on the left. Electing someone other than a serial abuser is the bare minimum

Classic abuser move: create a crisis and then position yourself as its solution. After the abuser “solves” the crisis, he will expect gratitude and adoration.
