It still blows my mind that John Candy shot all of his scenes for HOME ALONE in one day & that he was only paid $414 for the role as a favor to John Hughes under the condition that Candy could improvise all of his lines. Legend.

[hand replaces receiver]

[camera pans up]

[reveals an older, bearded James Bond, played by Pierce Brosnan]

I need everyone who uses AI to generate art & text to notice what Vince Gilligan says here. You're surrendering your brain, your creativity, the divine spark within you to a machine. Someday you'll wake up and find you're no longer capable of writing or thinking. And for what?

Love these little educational feel-good vignettes. Thanks as always @manmademoon.bsky.social !
Thought this was quite lovely.

That statue France sent us a while back is real nice; would they be willing to lend us one of their guillotines next? We've a bit of a faux-monarchy problem lately.

I'm halfway through it and Die My Love is the most unlikeable fucking movie I have ever endured, with an hour still remaining.

If this was the point, mission accomplished and fuck you.

New York to the haters: Drop Dead

in this week's Groove, @dmey.bsky.social makes the case that while the billionaires and conservative crybabies wail and gnash their teeth, New York is, in fact, at the start of a new golden age:

If you haven't seen Back to the Future in a full movie theater before or in a long time, and have seen it a zillion times on smaller screens, I can't recommend going enough. It opened up the entire picture to where I almost felt like I was inside the damn thing. So many things noticed, too. 10/10
