My latest piece for @healthpolicywatch.bsky.social on the ongoing @who.int Executive Board meeting. Definitely an interesting bit of news for all interested in global intellectual property rights — and corresponding inequity. This dispute seems to be far from over.

The EU-India trade deal was hailed by leaders in Europe as a milestone for free trade & the rule-based order. But what about tariff increases on steel imports that were approved on the exact same day?

The focus on the Greens in the debate on the EP Mercosur vote distracts from the fact that the EPP lost many MEPs in the process. This is not only a story of far-right and nationalist and progressive left alignment (on this issue), but also one of national fragmentation within the hegemonic bloc.

Cheers erupted in the Hemicycle, as the Mercosur deal was put on hold: it was a close call, but the European Parliament just voted in favour of a motion to ask the European Court of Justice to check whether the deal is compatible with EU law. This could delay the ratification by a year or more.
