there is a difference between needing to take a break from seeing horrifying news to protect your mental health and using mental health as an excuse to completely ignore what’s going on and i need to keep reminding myself of that because i feel awful about wanting to take breaks.

additionally, it's hard for some people (including me) to articulate their thoughts clearly sometimes because they have learning disabilities, but it doesn't make them stupid. and i feel like this type of ableism goes unaddressed a lot.
i wish people wouldn't equate eloquence to intelligence, because some motherfuckers that talk real pretty are actually dumb as bricks.
