I want to create some kind of Bluesky Catholic Bible study. Not sure what exactly that will look like, but if you're interested, let's talk about it.
This is mouthwash. You can't convince me otherwise.

ALMIGHTY God, give us grace that we may cast away the works of darkness, and put upon us the armour of light, now in the time of this mortal life, in which thy Son Jesus Christ came to visit us in great humility

In this Ohio town, it was tradition: Latin mass, biscuits and gravy at Bob Evans, and then down to the old marina to shoot a bunch of fishermen and claim they were running drugs. But now the woke mob wants to take all that away.

The Lord helpeth them that are fallen; * the Lord careth for the righteous.

The Lord careth for the strangers; he defendeth the fatherless and widow: * as for the way of the ungodly, he turneth it upside down.

Psalm 146:8-9

A thread worth reading. How we arrive at truth is almost as important as the truth itself, and making sure moral questions are addressed with seriousness requires an epistemic humility that many find difficult to maintain.
Disconnecting this from the discussion of the Lonergan/colonialism to avoid making implications, I do see a psychological tendency among those addressing highly morally salient questions to excuse themselves from certain kinds of intellectual rigor precisely bc of its moral importance.

Been teaching and ministering in a high school for eight years now, and this is absolutely true.
I had the delightful experience of teaching high school for about a year, which is how I know that 14-year-olds are kids, 15-year-olds are kids, 16-year-olds are kids, and 17-year-olds are kids. 18-year-olds? In my experience, usually kids

Does "woke" actually exist? The only people I hear using the term regularly are those critical of "wokeness." Does anyone actually, unironically refer to themselves as woke?

As the great John Henry Newman argued, a university is not a factory for churning out knowledge, but a haven for cultivating wisdom, breadth of vision, and unquestioning submission to the foreign policy aims of the nation where it’s located

I remember people hating on Alanis Morrisette for her song "Ironic" not actually having anything ironic in it, but it just now occurs to me that this was the most ironic thing she could do.

This message brought to you by the year 1996.

True love is always contemplative, and permits us to serve the other not out of necessity or vanity, but rather because he or she is beautiful above and beyond mere appearances.

If one is in extreme necessity, he has the right to procure for himself what he needs out of the riches of others.
