Do not give up your brain
It's tempting to just let tools think for you, but you still need to be able to think for yourself and stay sharp.

This is simple and elegant, love it!
You know that annoying experience on mobile websites where you need to find the little close button and can't swipe a menu closed?

The solution is simpler than you think.

With basic CSS scroll APIs, you can get built-in interruptible swipe gestures 🥳

My copilot adventure so far
- wow this is so cool, autocomplete on steroids
- it makes me lose my train of thought, maybe i should have it on a modifier key
- it’s paid now and i’m rarely using it anyway, let’s turn it off
- i only miss it for doing repetitive shit so i’ll learn vim macros instead
Vim macros have replaced my copilot usage and I haven’t gone back

I want to love Firefox but it doesn’t love me back.
Same. I feel better about using Firefox, but webcam selector is bad, and network devtools still doesn’t have an EventStream view. I’ve started using Chromium for these two tasks for my sanity.

The hairdresser holds up the mirror so I can see the back of my haircut but she accidentally uses the mirror that reveals how you die. I see my 80-year-old self tumbling down a hill after slacklining for the 1st time. I never know how to react in these situations, so I just mumble "wow I love it"

I'm learning a shit ton by moving from PaaS to bare metal. I'm really insistent on user experience, declarative approach and simplicity, so I have to mash things up in a unique way.

I intend to write a monster of a blog post when I'm done, hopefully served from my bare metal server!
This is turning out to be bigger than I initially imagined.

What I want is a Nix sandwich. NixOS hosts a git forge and k8s. k8s runs services that live in the git forge as projects. I declare projects via Nix, and everything works automagically.

Turns out this requires tons of manual wiring up.
Holidays are coming, it’s almost time for me to install NixOS in my bare metal Kimsufi server and move my services and blog over!! Excited!!

Yet again I see that devs who thrive with LLMs and vibe coding are mostly solo devs.

You can’t introduce that kind of review and merge conflict burden on a teammate.

And most vocal ones are the ones that are the most disciplined. Imagine an average “10x” dev who produces constant workslop.

I went down a rabbit hole, but out of pure spite, I installed beta build of Steam with native Apple Silicon support for Mac.

Valve doesn't publish a Mac beta, and the official way install is to first install the non-native one and opt-in to beta. But then what's the point?
