Hi. My name is Michael. I've been making games professionally for 25 years now. June 5, 2000, I walked into Atomic games with a leather messenger bag, a comp book, an absurd number of pens, and a w...

If you use generative AI to "explore ideas" you are mentally weaker than even the smallest child. If you feel that you need generative AI to "structure your thoughts" you lack the confidence of an 8 year old. If you feel shame about your diminished inner world, you should. You're bad at daydreaming

A group called "Robins des ruelles" or Robins of the Alleys claimed responsibility for the heist. The food was distributed to the community in protest of predatory grocery inflation, that is feeding record profits.

"The reaction to the theft has been overwhelmingly positive on social media."

I’m not a fan of professional fighting. Boxing, UFC, wrestling - I don’t find it interesting. Haven’t since I was a kid.

Nor do I know about or put any energy into streamer culture. Video is a not my medium.

And yet, I am pleased that Jake Paul got his ass beat.

An AI agent ran a snack operation in the WSJ newsroom. It gave away a free PlayStation, ordered a live fish—and taught us lessons about the future of AI.

Throwing a 2026 challenge out to streamers and folks in stream chats/comment sections. STFU about game development when you know nothing about it challenge.

It's so frustrating to sit in a chat and hear people who ain't made a game hold forth on "bad development". Just stop.

Wait a minute - you're telling me that oil prices just bounced up off the floor because of the Venezuela situation? Right as the Russian government was struggling to deal with the 40% shortfall in futures?

That's crazy. Trump would never help Russia.

Nancy Kashian told me the same thing I think she was told about bullies “they’ll stop if you ignore them.” I learned ignoring doesn’t work. It’s the same as permission. When I got sick of ignoring & fought back they stopped pushing me around. Then I started doing standup and learned my own strength.

This is a wild hack. a16z gave a million dollars to startup called Doublespeed. They use a phone farm to flood social media with AI generated influencers and ads. A hacker remotely broke into the phone farm, unmasking the AI influencers/fake accounts, gave us the data www.404media.co/hack-reveals...

I feel like there are a non-trivial number of game developers who really wanted Gigantic to be a thing and don't understand why it's not.

You don’t have to go back 25 years to understand why people are angry about a Supreme Court that ignores precedent, rewrites the constitution without justification, and gives the executive unchecked power through partisan actions.

This court is illegitimate and needs to be reformed.

There is a fundamental problem right now that the people who hold the money do not have the ability to imagine why a new game experience could be successful.
Something I have realized as I pitch and talk to other devs who are pitching narrative focused games, publishers and funders want a Dispatch under their belt, but nobody wants to fund it. And even if they do have the funds, they don’t believe in the projects that are being pitched to them.

My obsession for a decade: Parts of games are real, not fiction.

Like, you are not really becoming a powerful knight when you gain a virtual level. That's fiction, fantasy.

But you DO gain real skills. In manipulating buttons, game tactics etc.

In multiplayer games, the friendships are real.
BTW, Spirit Crossing is coming to Steam. The goal is to create a major Cozy MMO with a huge population of folks making friends in a safe and welcoming space.

I deeply believe we can make the world a better place.

Not to mention queer people. Who the hell is going to show up for a conference where they can be imprisoned for their identity and beliefs?

Wait, are we talking about GDC or Saudi Arabia?
Tell me you don't give a single shit about every woman who works in the industry without telling me you don't give a single shit about EVERY woman in the industry.
Saudi Arabia's latest overture to the games industry is a new conference, produced by GDC parent Informa, taking place in December 2026
