This is a must read

Seems all too common for a person to have some early success in life, see it as proof of their genius and downplay any luck or privilege that could have gotten them there, and then become incapable of self reflection and growth

See also Dawkins, JK Rowling, etc...
A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

I will be starting ADHD medication soon! Possibly this week, depending on if the prescription comes through at the weekend. I started the referral process for ADHD in 2023 so it's been a long time coming waiting for this moment. Here's hoping it works 🤞

Yesterday we went to see the Galeón Andalucía at the Albert Docks. Cass managed to resist the urge to pirate the vessel, so for now we are still living in our house on land. It's still in Liverpool for a few more days though... 🏴‍☠️

“We studied more than 70 different elections that took place in 12 western European countries over several decades, and found that when mainstream parties take more anti-immigration positions, it leads to more support for the radical right, not less.”

It's quite an exhausting experience trying to live your life every day while the media screams that people like you are unnatural and shouldn't exist. I guess I'm quite good at compartmentalization. 🏳️‍⚧️

A couple of months ago, my grandmother died. She was like a parent to me, and helped bring me up after my dad died when I was 9. Her passing is a huge hole in my life. I miss her when I am having a tough time and need to reach out for support, I miss being able to share my achievements with her.

Liverpool Pride 2025 was a good time. I got lots of compliments on my sign today.

The speeches at the start were super moving. I found myself in tears on a few occasions. The energy of the people marching today was great, so many people marching in solodarity for trans people 🏳️‍⚧️🩷🤍🩵

I am resentful that I wasn't diagnosed with adhd before I spent 3 decades nuturing a permanent state of insecurity and low self esteem as a result of living with my adhd symptoms. Currently mourning 'a life that could have been' if I'd had a diagnosis earlier.

Yesterday I was diagnosed with ADHD. It's good to have an answer for some of the issues I've been facing in the past (and present). There's a 10 month(!!!) wait on starting titration of medication which is frustrating, but what's one more year when I've been waiting my whole life.

My 11 year old ginger tabby, Hannibal, has been dealing with a urinary blockage recently. Very scary to deal with 😭 Hoping the changes we make to his diet will help, otherwise he's going to need surgery 😥😷
