WPIX's showing of "March of the Wooden Soldiers" was a tradition for me as a kid as well.
We made "A Christmas Story" our family tradition. Less scary, although the smiling goose was a bit unsettling.

When I was a kid I’d watch Laurel and Hardy’s March of the Wooden Soldiers on Channel 11 every Thanksgiving, and it scared the pants off me.
