Whenever I see huge, unexpected demographic shifts in polls, I think about the 2016 LA Times tracking poll. It kept showing Trump winning, so pollsters paid way more attention to it after the election. It weighted a single Black USC student who was a Trump supporter 27x the average voter.
The big demographic shifts seem insane to me and totally out of step with the actual world where everyone made up their minds about Trump in 2016 and hasn't changed them since bsky.app/profile/db-u...
If you look closer at the raw data, very little of it in isolation looks believable. It's hard to tell what is a *real* monumentous shift in sentiment (imo 65+ going left) vs bogus (Blacks going 20+ points towards trump).
