Rules for victory

Acceptance = neglect
Hope = harassment
Care = control
Gift = undesired obligation
Ask = assault
Understanding = infringement
Expectation = judgement
Commitment = shame
Familiarity = stagnation
Clarity = threat

Wrap in curated aesthetic, drag those who see the math, be relentless.

Freedom isn’t the absence of rules; it’s living under collective constraints that prevent domination.

Chaos doesn’t free individuals, it exposes them.

I don't understand all the people applauding Carney's speech at the big capitalist convention.

Daniel's thread sums up my read perfectly.

It's admission that capitalism is a lie, and that Carney was an informed yet willing participant.
"Every morning, the shopkeeper places a sign in his window: “Workers of the world unite.” He doesn’t believe in it. No one does."

Is an interesting way to tell everyone that we live in a society that is based on a lie.

Btw, this is not a "normal re-adjustment" or "politics" of a new administration with different priorities.

This is a fascist movement systematically destroying, subverting and corrupting science because science is a guardrail to power and a necessity in the epistemic integrity of democracy.

“Use AI to code faster but you’re still responsible for quality” is just “we’d like to ship bugs faster and blame you for them.”

Outsourcing attention during development just makes review take longer. Bye bye speed gains.

I keep reflecting on the surrealness of Mark Carney, former Governor of the Bank of England and Bank of Canada, invoking an anti-communist essay by Vaclav Havel to declare at Davos that the American-led neoliberal capitalist world order is a “lie”

Mark Carney needs to be thrown out over this. A billion-dollar Mar-A-Lago membership is not looking out for Canada.
When pressed by CBC's Ashley Burke whether a billion dollars is "reasonable" for participation in the "Board of Peace," Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney gives a blubbering response in which he appears to admit that Canada will pay, but that "Canada wants money to have maximum impact."

The landlord’s minions showed up to ravage the yard today. Goodbye flower buds for the spring. Hope you all enjoyed working in the hard frost, jerks!

I regret B.C.’s decision to end its decriminalization pilot and am disappointed the province has not released an independent evaluation. When governments change course on life-and-death issues, Canadians deserve to see the evidence. See more 👇

It should not be 10 degrees in January. We have not had a proper week of cold this winter. This is bullshit.

As governor of the Bank of England, Mark Carney blocked Venezuela from accessing $1 billion of its own gold after coordinated pressure from Washington and the far-right Venezuelan opposition, directly aiding a US-led regime change effort and worsening a humanitarian crisis.
Mark Carney’s silence on Venezuela reveals complicity
On September 2, the US military bombed a boat in the Caribbean, killing 11 civilians. Regional leaders denounced the attack as murder, but Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney remained silent. His stan...

A boundary is being crossed here: from journalism as an institution that scrutinizes national myths to journalism that publicly affirms one.

Disgusting.
Incredible. CBS Evening News announces five new “simple values” — instead of their “38-page handbook” — as they roll out Tony Dokoupil is lead anchor.

One of those values is simply: “We love America and make no apologies for saying so.”
