Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.
with the recent discourse on developer-focused laptops, I feel the need to shout out @system76.bsky.social. we have a variety of System76 hardware at the shop, and I have loved every one I've worked on.

can't wait to upgrade to a Lemur Pro once my @frame.work shits the bed.
have you tried the arturia mini freak?

Administrators at Indiana University baselessly fired the student media director and ordered the student paper to cease its print edition, so it'd sure be a shame if this excellent digital front page were to be widely shared today

@jeffgeerling.com just watched your wonderful video on the @frame.work desktop with its AMD AI MAX+ 395 board. Got me wondering—have you ever played around with AMD's MI300A APUs?
have you tried spack?

apparently #apple sells $700 casters for macs? I put my #NAS on casters today for <$50, including screws + casters + #3dprinted parts, and I definitely could have found some more affordable casters.

fuck you Apple. show an ounce of respect to your customers.

I have been thinking a lot lately about the non-significance of scientific discovery in the broader context of human well-being (or lack thereof).

Life on Mars, LLMs, deep space images: Stunning progress.

But these excitements are reserved only for those with the predisposed comfort to enjoy them.

Bluesky has banned Aftermath journalist Nathan Grayson for 24 hours for quote tweeting his own article with the words "rest in piss," which apparently is now against the rules here.
I can see this in my head and it's gigantic and beautiful.

Goodnight.
I'm tired.

TL;DR: I want:

- 12+ hot swappable SAS bays
- ECC support
- LGA 1851 CPU
- ATX motherboard
- All in a super stylish, airflow-conscious tower form factor

and I'll tell all my #NAS / #plex / #datahoarder friends all about it
something like a @system76.bsky.social Thelio or a @fractalofficial.bsky.social case with a SAS backplane is my DREAM.

SAS backplane also solves the problem of daisychaining sata power connectors.
to elaborate, I want a CPU that supports #QSV (as far as I know, #Xeon does not have QSV support), and thus an ATX case but also with hot-swappable SAS bays. this is a UNICORN. closest thing is the old #supermicro 826.
been thinking about my dream #NAS workstation. if any manufacturer made a tower chassis with 12x hot-swappable 3.5" bays (connected to a SAS backplane) and a pre-built solution that comes with an #intel mobo w the #w880 chipset (LGA 1851, ATX, ECC support) they'd get a lot of my money
