Oooh, which Dion Fortune? I think I still have all of her novels lurking somewhere in the boxroom from my teenage occultist phase...

I can't believe people are making light of the tragedy that occured yesterday (finding out that Matt Berry is part of the new Harry Potter project).

Naked eye - I was on the bus at the time. I wasn't sure it'd show up on camera, so very pleased it did.

I am opposed to AI products and services because of the extra power they require... IN A CLIMATE CRISIS. I am opposed to AI results - texts and illustrations - because they've been created unethically, via theft and non-consensual use of the work of others. Share if you agree.

In terms of fascist-bashing acumen, Starmer is starting to make Neville Chamberlain look like Indiana Jones.

Starmer does a promo for Trump's golf business: "It's absolutely magnificent both inside and out, and looking at the courses itself and the building. It's incredible."

I go with separating my money and my eyeballs from the artist, at least as long as said artist's alive to maybe benefit from it.

Though with cases like Sandman there's other innocent artists involved, so it's trickier. I'm going with "avoid" right now, but not going to judge anyone who doesn't.

I have a horrible suspicion that was actually one of the TVTropes threads; I remember the guy agonising about how his protagonist couldn't get his rare-drop girlfriend because he didn't have enough potions from there...

The UK Sphere editions had the same cover art

The 2nd one's actually by Michael Leonard, not Frazetta: www.michaelleonardartist.com/works/commer... doesn't have that one, but it does have another from the same series (The Serpent, by Jane Gaskell)

Fooling aside, there's a very enjoyable adaptation of Anthony Shaffer's unmade script outline for a sequel to #TheWickerMan, which you can listen to here

Every year the same, gets to May Day itself and people panic and the streets are full of people who SHOULD have done their shopping days ago looking for virgin police officers.

I dunno, he looks kind of like a man convicted of bodysnatching to me. Definitely got that Universal Pictures leading man vibe.

How can I pick just one? My first grab would probably be The Magic Island, but mainly because I want a look at the dustjacket; my copy doesn't have one. Is it the edition with the Alexander King illustrations?

If not there should be!

There is Class Struggle: The Board Game but I've no idea how that plays: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Class_S...

One family Xmas I decided to go full capitalist on Monopoly. I started bribing people, offering them a percentage of the proceeds if they sold me places I wanted to build hotels on, that kind of thing.

We've never played Monopoly since, which I count as my biggest win.

Also includes fungi (don't @ me, taxonomists), so it got the stories about French boars being radioactive from eating truffles which absorbed Chernobyl fallout and the ethical problem of replacing a Scottish fir plantation with more local woodlands even though a rare truffle grows there.
