our "smart" coffee machine at work is broken today. I made a joke about it being related to the AWS outage but then we looked in the back and it's plugged into ethernet

It should not be as niche as it is, but I keep having to repeat it:

If your values don't apply to *everyone,* they're not actually your values. They are simply a favor that you do for people that you like.
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?

I have just discovered that Evernote is still installed on my Android device.

Discovered, and remediated. No need for that rubbish here, tyvm.

Because I was asked to give it a fair showing, I have asked Copilot to generate me a project shell; nothing fancy, just a Typescript project with the Twitch API library.

So far there are 3 packages and it has invented four different API libraries, none of which exist.

Truly a marvel of the age.

It is with the deepest of chagrin that I find myself enjoying an article in the New Yorker.

Perhaps it is time for excessive drinking and melancholic reflection after all.

Additionally, Primarily, and Most Importantly:

They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

Lest We Forget.

Today's amusing peccadillo: When pasting into @hetzner.bsky.social's web-based console, the Shift Status of characters is being removed.

eg
`ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD:ALL`
becomes
`ALL=9ALL0 NOPASSWD;ALL`

For reasons unknown to even myself, I find this _frightfully_ funny. Just have a care, #developers!

An entertaining little factling:

If, say, an Australian political party were to send you mail then attempt to trick you into providing contact details when you try to unsubscribe, causing you to have to mark their emails as "Spam", it encourages _all_ their mail to be marked thusly.

I had not imagined that it was possible for me to dislike Zelda's voice acting *more*, but that was before #nintendo 's otherwise charming #Alarmo saw fit to see I awoke to it

Mayhap Ganondorf had the right idea.

I wonder, @qbhelp.bsky.social , if your colleagues over in Quickbooks Consumer are quite well, because this response is UTTERLY REDICULOUS.

"20 Jun 2024" is not an INVALID format, it is, for QuickBooks, an UNSUPPORTED format, and that in itself beggars belief.

I had not thought that In Quickbooks could vex me more, until I discovered that:

A: Their CSV importer does not understand space-separated dates, or months as abbreviations

B: Their support asked me to verify my identity, not at the start of the call, but after finding I wanted CSV help
