It's their ideal story. Something that sounds dangerous, but isn't true, so they can get people to click. "Is your house filling with poison gas? Here's how it could possibly happen!"
It's gonna take so long to just get us back to zero. It's not going to be a magic wand, whoop! One election and all is well again, it's gonna be a decade of solid, thankless work, and it's going to look like nothing is happening.
And who knows if the rest of the world will trust the US again.
