Judging from a quick perusal of Naharnet, the Lebanese body politick doesn't seem to get the seriousness of the Israel/Hezbollah situation.

Lebanon is going to blow past the New Year deadline for disarming Hezbollah, and Israeli willingness to let non-state rearmament continue is gone post-10/7.

Have you looked at why RiteAid and thousands of independent pharmacies went out of business, and Walgreens was broke before being bought ? Do you understand who creates the horrific economics for non captive pharmacies ? Of course you don't.

Spend that same energy pushing to break up insurers
After buying it for $18.8 billion, Walgreens' new private equity owner has eliminated paid holidays for all hourly workers on Christmas and New Year's.

Last year, Walgreens had a CEO-to-Worker pay gap of 410 to 1.

Corporate greed that would make even Scrooge blush.

Okay, this I don’t get. What does this have to do with one another? We had my company’s Christmas party last week at my country club, and yes, there was plenty of food at the buffet. That’s kind of normal at those places.

January 6 was like a much dumber version of Hitler’s Beer Hall Putsch and yet a plurality of American voters were like, Yeah, let’s give that guy the nuke codes again. An absolutely world historical debacle of societal ignorance. I’ll never understand it.

He said no troops would ever be deployed to Europe? WTF?
imo in the case of Biden, it was the perception of international disorder more than any actual genuine troops on the ground. Biden explicitly said no troops would ever be deployed to Europe but those "Kamala is deploying me to Tel Aviv" memes came out of the sort of disorder people fear
Seeing as we’re ten minutes to midnight from a shooting war with Venezuela I think it’s worth reflecting on how Democratic presidents get blamed for military actions much more than Republican presidents do, regardless of who is actually responsible. Hence why people fell for “the pro peace ticket.”

I mean, as someone who started various businesses, some that succeeded and some that didn’t, isn’t that normal and to be expected in a market economy where people can start and invest in businesses?

Breaking News: Israel exposed as *checks notes* supportive of the continued existence of the State of Israel. Truly a shocking and unexpected development.
I'm sharing this not for the Bondi Beach conspiracy theory but for "Israel has been exposed as Zionist." This is what I mean when I say anti-Zionists live in an epistemic bubble, one in which "Zionist" means something so indescribably evil rather than what Israel openly describes itself as.

My hottest NS take is that, unlike organized crime, terrorism is rarely addressed by tackling terrorist financing.

Many terrorists are middle class or even wealthy, these attacks are usually self financed, and driving the a Christmas market or shooting up a beach costs almost nothing.
Pack it up folks, we’re done, the worst take has been found

“You cannot learn or grow while trying to appear as if you have everything figured out. You cannot talk to God by trying to avoid doing something wrong. Perfection is stagnation,” the concert pianist Jonathan Bliss writes in a guest essay.
Opinion | A Classical Pianist’s Plea: Make Messy Art
It is not only classical musicians who are being stunted by the search for perfection. It is harming many aspects of our lives and sectors of our society.

Demolishing the East Wing of the White House before finalizing plans for what will be built above its ruins is a near-perfect metaphor for Trump's approach to economic policy. The only difference is the wrecking crew doesn’t claim the rubble is evidence of unprecedented growth.

Again, there is no plan for running our universities without federal funding, or foreign students, at scale. But the public has no idea about this because no. one. is. telling. them. this. They expect their kids are still going to be able to do all the things at college in the next 4 years, & well:
The entire business model of R1 public universities rests on 4 revenue sources:

1. Federal grants
2. Private gifts/endowments
3. Tuition (esp. from foreign students)
4. State $

For decades, 📈 in 1-3 offset a secular 📉 in 4. Now, 1 & 3 are being decimated & 4 ain't coming back. The math is clear.
