1) When people said they’ve been to Hell and back, how did you think they’d gotten there?
2) Whether or not humans plan to drive on the road to Hell doesn’t change the fact that Satan runs a tight ship and values well-maintained infrastructure.
Why do people think the road to hell is paved at all? Are you planning to drive there?
More specifically, the road to hell is paved with the intention to make good things last.

I think Duffy heard that “track suit” is a type of workout clothes and misunderstood something.
it’s pretty funny that Duffy is simultaneously

1. scolding passengers for not wearing fancy clothes while flying

2. supporting airport gyms so passengers can be sweaty and gross while flying

both of these proposals are idiotic but the direct contradiction is next level
Duffy on what he's doing to improve the airport experience for travelers: "Maybe I want a workout area where people might get some blood flowing doing some pull ups or step ups in the airport."

I thought I had a joke about Jericho, but it all just fell apart in the end.
I don't have a joke about Enoch because God took it.
I have a joke about Job, but all my friends blame me for it.

In Judaism, over 99% of religious rules come with the caveat that if following the rule will endanger your life, break it. Your life is more important than following rules. There are only three rules where you’re told to die rather than violate them. One of them: Thou Shalt Not Kill.

BRENNAN: Do you have confidence in Admiral Bradley?

HIMES: What it raises is what happens when an apparently good man like Admiral Bradley is placed in a context where he knows that if he countermands an order he's uncomfortable with it's very likely he'll be fired

Apparently I’ve been blocked by @eleanor.lockhart.contact. I don’t know why, and I enjoyed reading their opinion, when I could. If I accidentally said something rude I apologize. (I don’t like offending people by accident, so if someone knows what I did, please enlighten me.)

I think the Addams family network is a rival group because 1) they would find it fun to be engaged in a never-ending war with a globe-spanning assassins’ guild and 2) the Addams family strike me as people who would think that contract killing takes all the fun out of murder.
we are watching the addams family (1991) and i am suddenly intensely curious about whether the addams underground network ever connects with the john wick underground network

I propose the, “America: Love It or Leave It,” plan, where people who oppose birthright citizenship are stripped of their citizenship to make room for people who actually value the USA and our Constitution.
still poleaxed by the idea that you could oppose birthright citizenship and still think of yourself as a liberal in any sense of the term.

Right. Anti-vaxxers can’t be humored anymore. At this point, their material impact on society might be worse than neo-Nazis, and they should be treated as the child murderers they are.
Breaking: After contentious debates and three failed attempts at a vote, a federal vaccine committee decided on Friday to end the decades-long recommendation that all newborns be immunized at birth against hepatitis B.

I disagree. Big Facial Scar is character development, but there are other types. Metal Hook and Robot Arm are overlooked in the original conjugation.

If you’re outside a synagogue yelling, “baby killers,” you’re just doing blood libel.
Today at Wilshire Boulevard Temple in LA

Protesters justify their disturbances (school was in session at the time) by saying "it's no longer holy"

As usual & per their training, the refuse to have a discussion.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but when the publishers of an icon like this come out and ask for the memes to stop, I can’t really enjoy the memes anymore. Some people only get memed harder for trying to stop it, but this is a group that deserves respect, even on this cynical website.

If your whole thing is setting up elaborate scenarios where you inevitably fail, and repeat the cycle endlessly without ever trying to create a situation where you could succeed?
That’s follyamory. And its relationships are rarely healthy.
If you’re dating a musician named Parton? That’s Dollyamory.

Don’t even THINK about trying something, Jolene.
If your thing is constructing elaborate fantasy scenarios that give the person you're dating the illusion of moral responsibility in order to distract them from a larger structural injustice they are powerless to intervene in?

That's trollyamory.

Elphaba. Yes, she‘s flirting. But she’s also 100% serious when she says, “let me slip into something more comfortable.”
some captchas are particularly humiliating

is the fact that I’m searching for “elphaba sex cardigan” not proof enough that I’m not a robot for you, google

do I also have to click on two pictures of a bus

I have a joke about Balaam, but telling it makes me look like such an ass.

300 years ago, wars were fought over a fraction of the contents of your average grocery store spice isle. The average citizen has easy access to a more varied diet than royalty from the 18th century.
Throughout history technological developments have promised great wealth for all. However this has proved widely over optimistic. Farming, the industrial revolution, automation, the internet and now ai. Greater wealth has only been for those who control the means and systems. The rest get poorer

I thought that for most of my life. I was disabused of the notion when I went to a museum with life-sized animal sculptures.
Most people think of moose as "a big dear" and not "slightly smaller than an asiatic elephant".

If I’m spending $100k on a personal vehicle it better have a smuggler’s compartment and a consistently functional hyperdrive. And a replicator would be nice, too.
if i'm spending $100k on a personal vehicle it better have dynamic hyperspectral camouflage and synthetic myomer strength enhancements
if I'm spending $100K on a personal vehicle it better be bipedal and have hardpoints for a brace of PPCs

[old professor voice] a key thing to understand about Western culture is a remarkable amount of mental energy has been dedicated to wondering “what if we put a hot girl in church?”

I think it helps that most of the time, when Flambae acts like a jerk the game (usually through Robert) punishes him for it, and the times it doesn’t are when him being a jerk is also kind of funny. (It also helps that even the Z-Team get annoyed when he’s excessively mean.)
... isn't particularly rewarding. Visi doesn't improve as a hero until she makes an effort to open up and let down her walls. Phenomeman took out his depression on others (but mostly himself) until given a constructive outlet via the Z-Team. Flambae's a douche, but he has a soft spot for kids.

I wonder if calling it, “lore,” is a bit of a Freudian Slip. It’s not usually a word used to describe information in a nonfiction context.
I don't know what's more unhinged, the repeating lies peddled about me for years now, or the "I saw Goody Proctor Dancing with the Devil!" response.

This was the response to a rabbi asking Christians not to use Hebrew words for their institutions since it’s confusing for Jews trying to find Jewish institutions. And here I thought I wouldn’t get to use my old supersession meme.
