I keep up a small repository of art resources that I come across for different disciplines.

Click the View button to get to the different organized lists sorted by type and whether they're paid or free. I look through the resource to see if it's legit before I post it.

I don't think I've had a more productive break

Had an awesome anniversary
Reached act 3 of Silksong
Saw Perfect Blue in theaters
Saw a magic show and was pulled up on stage
Hit up a Round 1 for a while
Checked out the new TESO Life that opened out my way
Cleaned up old physical documents

I think I'm going to stay off here for the better part of this week. Wedding anniversary is this week and I'd like to lessen the brain poison for a little while.

Still going to work on doodles and post after, but I think a digital cleanse is due.

Just saying, "the book is there to serve me, not vice versa" is a very - VERY odd thing to say when discussing literature.

The thing about "prompt engineering" is that you don't even need AI to do it. Just write the prompt. I can write stegosaurus-with-huge-naturals.jpg and your mind does the rest

If this is your reaction to someone telling you to not post AI, buddy idfk what to tell you

That's kinda how I became spoiler-averse to a higher degree, if someone is going to regale me with the whole thing, guess I don't have to see it

I know there's plenty more, but I think The Office is probably the most frequent I encounter in the wild

Inspired by a post I just saw in which someone admitted they hadn’t seen a single episode of Friends nor the film Love Actually… what cultural hole do you have that’s a bit weird for your generation?

I’ll go first: I haven’t seen Dirty Dancing.

When I was researching my book Ghosts, Monsters, and Demons of India, I learned of a 1000-year-old myth about Roman tech being used to build killer robots to guard the Buddha's remains in Pataliputra, and a Hungarian folklorist read my book & got excited about it, & she managed to dig up a🧵(1/3)
Romanised Pali manuscript of the Lokapannati Ghosts, Monsters, and Demons of India
p. 60
Bhoota Vahana Yanta
Bhoota Vahana Yanta means “spirit movement machine.” The term is used
for several varieties of robot drone assassins and sword-wielding machine-
men mentioned in the Lokapannati, a Pali-language text written between
1000 and 1200 CE by Saddhammaghosa of Thaton, but concerning
events that took place much earlier, around 500 to 200 BCE.
According to the story, robots were first invented by engineers of the
early Roman Republic. These robots were used for commerce, in agriculture,
as a police force, and as executioners. The secret of how to build these
spirit-engines was fiercely protected. If any engineer dared to take the designs
out of the city, one of his own executioner robots would come after
him and kill him.
At that time, in Pataliputra (then in the kingdom of Magadha, now
Patna in the state of Bihar), there lived a young man who had heard of the
Romans’ magical androids. He became so determined to learn the secrets
of their manufacture and share them with the people of Magadha that he
arranged his own death. Then, on his deathbed, he vowed to be reincarnated
as a Roman.
This indeed took place. In his new life, the man grew up to join the
Roman guild of engineers. He even married the daughter of the Master
Robot-Maker, and had a son by her.
Once he learned the secrets of the Bhoota Vahana Yanta, the man resolved
to transfer the information back to Pataliputra. But he was well
aware that now, since he was a member of the guild, he would be killed as
soon as he left. So he cut a gash in his thigh, inserted the plans in his flesh,
and sewed the wound back up.

an unfortunate irony about this post - and even if you are the staunchest anti-ai critic out there, i think you'd agree - is that some of the most bigoted things are being said to respond to this. copy/pasting phrasing and terminology used by bigots but replacing "dna" with "bits" doesn't make it ok

i'm completely serious when i say that much of the dismissive ai discourse on here fires the bigotry neuron

if you're writing a sentence that sounds like eugenics but you go "oh that's fine to say because it's not a real person" (whatever that means) you may want to consider what made you okay with saying that

The game in which the premise is "the odds are real but gamers struggle to conceptualize or even believe them" has negative reviews from gamers who don't believe the odds are real (game: Unfair Flips)
A 'Not Recommended' Steam review with 4 hours played

Review text reads: It's a decent idea for a game where you flip a coin and depending on your percentage chances you get heads or tails. However the odds are a lie. You will flip tails 100 percent more than you will heads no matter what your percentage is. Even when you get it up to 60% you will still flip tails way more often then you will heads.

The Dev can try to defend it, but when I flip the coin 2500 times and only hit heads a third of the time even when at 60% then the odds are broken or a lie. I've also watched gameplay and seen fellow players have the same flips so I know it isn't just me having bad luck.

Still not bad for $2, but I'm saying no because the game is coded against you instead of it being fully on chance and luck.
