This sounds great. Can we also double their business rates and ban gambling advertising?

And use some of the revenue generated for a retraining fund to help staff who want to upskill and land new jobs?
This is a really excellent piece and, I think, deeply insightful of our current moment’s predicament.

The politics of humiliation has moved to the center of the reactionary project under Trump II.

Ming Campbell was a dedicated public servant and a true Liberal giant.

His principled leadership opposing the Iraq War was a mark of his morality, courage and wisdom.

But more than that, he was an incredibly warm and caring friend and colleague.

We will miss him terribly.

I see people are upset that I won an award for women because I'm the wrong type of woman. I was moved and honoured to have been awarded this by the party's women's group, and that the Lib Dems at all levels have my back and I will continue to fight for liberalism and my community.

The media - no, we're not going to report on serious Lib Dem policies

The media - yes, we will report on fun stunts

The media, also - the Lib Dems need to show they've got serious policies

Delighted that the @libdems.org.uk showed yet again that we reject the assault on trans people’s rights promoted by the small anti trans group in the party. #ldconf
I moved the catnip from the herb garden to the planter 2 minutes ago. #cats
But, there is so much potential in what the FC could do, so I hope in another cycle or so, the worst of the dross will have left the party having realised their political home lies elsewhere and it can grow into a really good scrutiny body.
Really very good from Mark. I’m likely not restanding to the FC for similar reasons - my energy can be better spent in Scotland without having to engage with any of the (very) small group of emotional vampires & wreckers that dwell on the FC.
The US right has such an intense martyrdom complex. They’re just desperate to be oppressed by the government. It’s really fucking weird.

"Almost no one will have knowingly encountered someone who illegally entered the country, let alone seen them actually arrive on the beach at Dover. They just think there’s a crisis because other people keep telling them there is."
A nation is a shared illusion – so a government has the power to change it

Anyone who belongs to any minority group needs to be aware that what is being done to trans people can and will be done to them. In a decade we have been stripped of our rights to exist in public spaces by a press campaign and a well funded lobby.

Red Panda at the zoo was very well behaved
It is now August. I went to the zoo. The tram there and back was hell. I will not be leaving Leith again until September.
Edinburgh desperately needs a tourist tax. Which should get set at such a level that nobody has to pay council tax in August. Not even there yet and I’m already done.
