As obvious as this may have been to foresee it is still terrible to see it. Can we just refuse anyone who voted for brexit or members of reform access to the NHS? Obviously not, because the people who work in the NHS care about people regardless of background, probably something to celebrate 🤷🏻‍♂️
📢 Overseas recruitment of nurses and midwives has fallen by almost 50%, putting NHS services at serious risk.

It's a pity this isn't a more balanced article. Could it be that after a generation has been employed under austerity for our entire working lives and prohibited from achieving the success those before gained is taking effect. Or is it just breaking the shackles of the BS of a stiff upper lip?

Wes Streeting orders review of mental health diagnoses as benefit claims soar
Health secretary has asked experts to investigate whether normal feelings have become ‘over-pathologised’ The health secretary, Wes Streeting, has ordered a clinical review of the diagnosis of mental health conditions, according to reports. Streeting is understood to be concerned about a sharp rise in the number of people making sickness benefits claims because of diagnoses for mental illness, autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), the Times reported. He has asked leading experts to investigate whether normal feelings have become “over-pathologised”, the newspaper said, as he seeks to grapple with the 4.4 million working-age people now claiming sickness or incapacity benefit. The figure has risen by 1.2 million since 2019, while the number of 16 to 34-year-olds off work with long-term sickness because of a mental health condition is said to have grown rapidly in the same period. Streeting told the Times he knew from “personal experience how devastating it can be for people who face poor mental health, have ADHD or autism and can’t get a diagnosis or the right support”. He added: “I also know, from speaking to clinicians, how the diagnosis of these conditions is sharply rising. “We must look at this through a strictly clinical lens to get an evidence-based understanding of what we know, what we don’t know, and what these patterns tell us about our mental health system, autism and ADHD services. “That’s the only way we can ensure everyone gets timely access to accurate diagnosis and effective support.” The review, which is expected to be launched on Thursday, is set to be led by Prof Peter Fonagy, a clinical psychologist at University College London specialising in child mental health, with Sir Simon Wessely, a former president of the Royal College of Psychiatry, acting as vice-chair. This isn’t normal behaviour for a democratic country! Holding a sign stating you oppose genocide is not supporting genocide and @teamlabouruk.bsky.social know it, shame on you.

Yet more peaceful protesters are being arrested today and hauled from the streets by police - a scene which just a few months ago would have been shocking but is quickly becoming the norm...

He’s been daubing walls for three decades.

As soon as he satirises peaceful protesters being dragged through the courts for holding placards opposing Israel’s genocide, he faces being unmasked and prosecuted.

I am sickened by the relentless demonisation of refugees.

No refugee underfunded a school.

No refugee closed a hospital.

No refugee took away support from the sick and disabled.

We need solutions not scapegoats. Stop blaming refugees and tax the rich instead!

We’re being squeezed dry. Rents are on the rise yet again, and tenants are now spending over a third of their income just to keep a roof over their heads, leaving less for food, heating and life itself. We need rent controls now!

University staff are being offered a 1.4% 'pay rise (cut)' by the #UCEA, this on top of years of real terms pay cuts and for most of us fixed term contracts and lack of meaningful progression. I feel undervalued and mocked. Despite this terrible offer, there is no press coverage or #UCU support
