It’s widely known (and, I think, pretty uncontroversial) that learning requires effort — specifically, if you don’t have to work at getting the knowledge, it won’t stick.

James and I have lived in Roanoke for a little over a year now and while SW VA definitely has its faults and deep rooted issues, I personally feel so much happier here compared to the 33 years of living in my shitty evangelical Xtian right-wing infested hometown
