Anyone on my network familiar with social supports in Canada, specifically in Edmonton, where a disabled autistic guy might turn for help? He’s about to lose housing and internet access. He’s brilliant but physically hurt, and he’s about to be on the street in this winter.

it’s been nearly a week since the last donation. please consider boosting and helping this year-old fundraiser finally meet its goal. it’s only 68% there.

sharing is free.

I have been thinking more about this back one Harvard was doing its personal genome project which fizzled out but there are so many WHOLE GENOME test available these days I'm glad someone is finally using that data SP for EDS
February 6, 2026 at 7:35 AM
And I think it's actually an excellent idea to ask people who've already had their GENOME sequenced share data with researchers to save time and money and accelerate research. Appreciated note explaining all that.
February 6, 2026 at 7:35 AM
Just read over the interesting email from sequencing.com CEO who apparently has EDS/DYSAUTONOMIA about a collaboration with NORRIS lab for people to opt in to share their WHOLE GENOME data for EDS/DYSAUTONOMIA research.

I think I'm in!

Are there any books by disabled authors in the dark humour genre? Preferably non-fiction and Disability related?
Seeking recommendations

I swear to god if any medical provider ever dares dismissively utter the words "Dr. Google" around me, ever in my fucking life, I cannot be held responsible for whatever my response to that happens to be

I WOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO GOOGLE THIS SHIT IF YOU WERE ANY GOOD AT YOUR JOBS

Sending Care your way. And commiserating about that shit show of a Medical system that puts way too many patients in this position. Hope you find answers.

Are there any Crisis support lines or Warm line out there that are stuffed by people who won't just spout platitudes at you for 15 minutes and then tell you to move along? Genuine question. Asking for me.

My friendship with H isn’t the point. In fact, his family relies on us getting them dignified help that honors their privacy. Because this is our obligation to Palestinians.

Anything helps with their recurring medical needs & more, & hit “weekly”!

I'm so done with Disability ORGS constantly talking about disabled joy but doing a little too facilitate it

ESP for those of us who can't access most of the world

I'm drowning in social isolation as a bedbound person living alone and my mental health is seriously starting to FRAY from the number of Disability ORGS that have turned me down when I tried to propose organizing Friday night socials even though I volunteered to Shepherd this effort

Just a regular reminder that the National Libra service for the Blind and print disabled provides free audiobooks and other materials to anyone whose disabilities make it difficult to read. This can include things like dyslexia, ADHD, brain fog etc.

More or later because low spoons but hierarchy abound in the Disability justice community in ways that are completely un remarked upon
January 31, 2026 at 7:33 AM
Disability justice ORGS will say"nothing about us without us"but provide little to no OPP for participation in decision-making BY community members or even volunteering. And most of their leadership seems to be composed of people who are far more functional than some of us.

I wish people would stop saying that ridiculous phrase: It never hurts to try/apply.
It absolutely hurts to try/apply for stuff and be rejected repeatedly especially for things that are basic human needs. Not to mention the spoons spent in applying for things when spending spoons can be painful

CN death, ABLEISM

Honestly I don‘t have the cognitive and emotional capacity to process this right now but this is horrific I'm on all the other horrific things happening
In October, ICE grabbed Maher Tarabishi.

He was a 24/7 caregiver for his disabled son Wael.

At the time of Maher’s detention, disability advocates warned that taking away Wael’s caregiver put his life at risk.

Wael died on Friday at age 30.

ICE caused his death.

They didn’t get to say goodbye.
Disabled son of ICE detainee dies after 30 days of hospitalization
It had been months since Wael Tarabishi seen his father. The family is calling on ICE to release Maher Tarabishi so he may attend his son's funeral.
