Hand-Drawn Game Guides: Mega Man goes live in a few minutes. I really hope you like what we're doing here. I'm grateful to be able to give this another honest shot and see this project through. Thanks so much for the support. (KS link on the next post)

The book consists of tips from 8 manga and game artists that have different levels of digital art experience and how they felt about making work with Mario Paint. The first one here (Play 89) is by Akihito Tomisawa of Game Freak.

Then they even suggest bringing your VHS work to different print shops throughout Tokyo so that you can make stickers and key chains with your Mario Paint art.

There's an entire section about storyboarding and recording scenes onto VHS and even suggestions on how you could dub voice work over your animation.

They're from this book about 100 ways to enjoy Mario Paint. It's a really interesting guide compared to the official US one. Whereas that guide is way more beginner friendly this one goes extremely deep with unique ways to get the most out of Mario Paint.

Songs composed by Tsukasa Masuko (known for Shin Megami Tensei music) for Mario Paint that I found in an old MP guide book from Japan.

I'm wondering if I'm on that one now. It has a bunch of rock/ice falling from the ceiling and crap falling everywhere and the boss pokes his head out from ice spikes. Probably gonna have to grind another level.

Been playing Wanderers from Ys III here and there. I absolutely hated this game as a kid but wanted to come back to it after playing Ys Book I & II a year ago. I've come around to it now that I realize this game is basically side scrolling bump combat.

I had forgotten the ferryman will take you to a mansion if you show him Dracula's heart. But I remembered all of the weird crystal spots!

Played through Simon's Quest. Only needed to cheat once! The ending section is rad. I love the empty castle leading up to Dracula's resurrection. I even like that he's a push over because it makes Simon feel like he's the one in control. Its a big victory lap for a tough game.

I got mine. Turned out great, thank you!

Thank you for the shout out. It was slightly surreal to see that while reading this! I'm sad the game didn't connect with you but I appreciate the viewpoint!

Yeah maybe it's a "just me" type of thing. I like the Switch 2 but at the moment it's the least hype I've felt about a Nintendo console since Wii U.... Though it's already had a better first year than that. Hah. DK was fantastic for sure.

I feel like a lot is riding on this one. I don't want to say S2 has completely lost momentum (especially as it's about to hit its first holiday season) but it's starting to feel that way. Nailing dates for their known line up should be the key part of their messaging.

Downloaded Gimmick! for Switch and ended up using my own guide for tips on how to get some of the treasures. I was horrible at this... When I made this issue I was getting really good at this game. Lost it all! Anyway it and Gimmick 2 are like 5 bucks each right now.

Here's what the images are, on the #Nintendo Museum's #Zelda wall, for the first 4 games. There's 2 pieces I'm pretty sure have never been seen before but that one of Hyrule is 100% "new"

If you guys want me to ID the art for the newer games just let me know, I just figured more people know it.
A small and hard to make pout photo of Nintendo Museum's Zelda gallery wall with lines going to art of what the images actually are.

You could rip out the story completely and still have a compelling game to play. Kojimas story telling doesnt work for everyone but I'm just glad the guy is still able to give us completely unfiltered original ideas not run through by committee.

Finished Death Stranding 2 last night. Absolutely loved it. Those final few hours were fantastic. From a pure game play stand point it's probably one of the best games to come from Kojima. His unique story telling and vision also still a huge part of the experience.

For sure, always happy to lend a hand. Wil, your wife is probably onto something!

I mean it's a deep cut for sure!

Omikron. I never played that game in my life but somehow could still see the cover.

Unless I'm wrong.

This isn't a dig at Plok but it's the most shocking game to see within these pages getting feature! Also I would do anything to see a copy of Steve Miller's work that is featured within these pages.

I was inspired by @ziondood.bsky.social's Mario Paint video to see if I had anything on my original copy and alas, nothing. But here's a look at the original package! I even still have the little red tab on the bottom of the mouse. Also my very worn copy of the guide book which I loved.
