New account theme that’s been a while coming. At Gettysburg the 1st Minnesota charged to their deaths to buy the Union 5 minutes because it had to be done and they were the only ones who could. if we can find a tiny fraction of that courage in ourselves we win
He definitely did see his job as bringing millions to their deaths and Arendt bought a lie he told at his trial to try and escape execution (and id venture that a lot of ice personnel have similar active investment in brown people dying that they want us to believe is banality)

Ron has posted a screenshot that has essentially no relation to what he alleges in his post and expects no one to read what it actually says. Since he’s on bluesky, of course, he’s absolutely right
But some Senate Dems are already talking about various ways to give this leverage away.

as a result of finally playing the corbyn side of the 2017 uk campaign trail mod I am now cooking up in my head a song to the tune of the billy Bragg thatcherites song about republicans

i dont mind lte but this is the clickbaitiest thumbnail ever, hes like wow what a crazy video and the closest thing to a bold prediction is that minnesota is safe dem which isnt a bold prediction if you've read a single news article about minnesota in the past month
February 5, 2026 at 12:16 AM
once this is all over a campaign trail mod that plays like the republican side of things that never were where you play as chuck schumer and hakeem jeffries trying to manage the democrats in opposition could be very cool and fun

I think anyone whose solution to rape is spontaneous lynchings can be basically ignored on the subject of protests without engagement other than to occasionally express contempt

Jews who object to comparing ice to Nazis combine immorality and naïveté in a way that’s uniquely contemptible- it would be one thing to throw people under the bus to escape ourselves, or even to oppress others for an ethnostate, but these people are just pathetic
February 3, 2026 at 6:29 PM
It doesn’t matter if they voted for Laken Riley, it doesn’t matter if they didn’t try to have the national guard arrest ice, gavin Newsom would be uniquely catastrophic for the Democratic Party and must be stopped
I don’t really think we’re going to test this scenario but I would observe that if your line is “anybody but Newsom” you best be ready to get on a non-Newsom compromise candidate even if they aren’t a perfect alignment for you otherwise
Leftists in '25: We're not voting for Gavin

Leftists in '26: We're not voting for Gavin

Leftists in '27: We're not voting for Gavin

Leftists in '28: We're not voting for Gavin

Gavin in '28: *loses the general against a JD Vance/Erika Kirk ticket*

Liberals in '28: Why would leftists do this? 😡

this is disgustingly flippant towards the threat posed by the party of nick fuentes. You do not actually give a shit about Nazism
Alright, I'll say it:

If it comes down to a Totenkopf or Collins, then I wish Collins a happy 6th term in the Senate

the civil rights movement did not win by awakening the secret virtue of Southern whites by appealing to their better nature. it won by producing a demonstration of their brutality Northerners could not ignore

Apropos of tonight’s results, in 2026 really becomes reverse 1994 Greg Abbott seems like a great Mario cuomo analogue

Jujutsu kaisen is probably the most frustrating thing I’ve ever seen just for how little needs to change for it to be incredibe. The prequels had good ideas and terrible execution leaving for a lot of room for relativity, jjk has good ideas and good execution held back by a few baffling decisions

This is a subtweet of among others my second favorite fantasy author so like no beef but I think people are way overindexing the stancil thing, as far as I can tell it’s just the admins of one group chat being stupid not like the entire protest movement going out of control

i feel very seen with how much contempt the new campaign trail mod year zero has for jimmy carter

Put another way, you can just call people who get their shit took by casinos stupid, and likewise I really won't try very hard to stop you, but doing so definitely leaves a lot of interesting insights into the casino industry unexamined.

We HAVE to leave Adam mckay’s movies except for the big short behind right now

They’re utterly heavy-handed, will never have nuanced characterization or thought provoking thematic elements

I’ve suggested begging Armando iannucci to do a watergate movie but if there’s a better idea let’s go
We HAVE to leave the Dem Party behind right NOW.

They’re utterly corrupt, will never fight for us, fix damage done, or bring criminal charges against high powered/wealthy ppl including Trump.

I’ve suggested flooding the Green Party and pumping it with life. But if there’s a better idea let’s go.

So it seems to me that the debate right now is over whether Chuck Schumer is handling the dhs funding fight in a strategically smart way- now, I think clearly he’s not, he’s leaving way too much on the table in terms of messaging and policy, but the vitriol of this discourse seems out of proportion

In basic order
Lincoln
FDR (he switches with lincoln a lot for me)
LBJ
Washington (grudgingly)
Truman
TR
Wilson
Obama
Jefferson
Grant

It really speaks to the quality of presidents generally that grant is number ten despite his presidency being essentially a failure
Who do people even think the good presidents were then? Just FDR? Kennedy because he died?

This element never worked for me in the expanse I have to say- the narrative treats Marco like he’s bin laden when he has murdered an order of magnitude more people than Hitler, Stalin, and Mao combined- holden’s goal realistically would have just been preventing a revenge genocide of the belt
among the reason Deudney argues against space colonization is probably the fact that space expansion may raise existential risk

think about that when i read this
