Pot roast has jumped in price from $12 ish dollars for 2.5 pounds to $30. For a not great cut of meat.

It is insane.

everything is on fire these days, sure, but how is it that 50% of all news stories are not about how I just spent $20 on a bag of store brand coffee at fucking costco

One of my goals is to hug Grover.

I already got to meet Oscar and Carroll Spinney, but I really really want a Grover hug.

All the Muppets (both human and not) dressed in all black for Cash's 2nd appearance and he got to sing with Oscar, Big Bird, the Count, and Miss Piggy.

How is that considered uncool??

Compared to Dylan and Springsteen, country-music legend Johnny Cash can seem deeply uncool. It took time for me to appreciate his profound, plainspoken strength, writes Jon Fasman.

We were once allowed to cut a knot tied packet of documents related to Abiel Smith in the early 1800s and we were on that high for like, 6 months.

It is always interesting to watch people start to actually learn about Black history in real life. You can see light-bulbs flickering on and off as they take in new information.

Here’s a primer on ‘primer.’

It’s pronounced ‘PRIMM-er’ if you mean “a small book” or “a short informative piece of writing.”

It’s pronounced ‘PRY-mer’ if you mean “an initial coat of paint.”

I'm the opposite! It has some Munster and Connacht, but no paper trail. Great-grandfather on one side is from Donegal so I'm assuming it is my Holmes/Cashman great grandparents
historygirl.bsky.social
What part of Donegal are your people from?

Is the show 911 now a fantasy show? Cause that shit is crazy.

Good for you for reading it. I look at wills/probates/law stuff and my brain just melts lolol

I think that is in part because those groups are the most eager to talk while lapsed Catholics like me are over here going, that isn't what Father Roger taught me in college level Bible class. Most of the most Catholic people I know are the quietest about it.

My brother-in-law's family is anti Vatican 2 and they are just...really interesting to listen to cause my parents won't let me talk to them lololol

I successfully found the actual pagans at my Catholic college so that is probably a good thing.

I'm wondering who they are interviewing for these articles and if they are actually Catholics or are recent Catholics who seem to be a lot more conservative than others? Like, they love the pomp but hate the teachings

Makes sense.

I had a British Dad and Daughter comment on how I said Devonshire St since I was directing them to the other Visitor Center. They thought I was pretty funny lol

I'm very sad that past me ate all the apple crisp so that present me doesn't have a delicious thing for breakfast.

If you are from there or went to school there many just shorten it to the Woo. Lol

I was always confused as to where they found that extra e. Now, Worcester is another fun one cause it has at least two acceptable ways.

Wasn't able to buy books today cause we had like three fires to put out at the same time. And I only read another assignment not a chapter, but I think I'm in good shape for tomorrow.

Today's plans include hosting a board game night, buying books, attending a q&a for class, finishing a paper proposal, and possibly reading a chapter or two in my assignments.

Tomorrow, I'll need to finish my readings, do two main posts and 4 replies, and attend another q&a.

Copley and Haverhill really trip people up.

But don't sleep on Peabody.

What’s the word where you’re from that, when pronounced exactly as it looks, identifies a tourist immediately?

Tonight is our first board game night and the laughter coming from the room is so lovely.

Two people have already figured out how they are related academically lol

Flemmi killed at least 15 people. Bulger at least 11. Both raped young girls, terrorized entire neighborhoods, and were horrible men. No idea why you would want to eat with either of these fucking douches above your table.
