Considering everything I've learned about America since it's so "funny" that part of my middle/high school education that hyped America up was in comparing our freedoms to scary "police States"
Fun thing about Ohio: if a cop shoots someone, regardless of the circumstances, the government takes the position that the cop was a crime victim and their identities are not revealed. Now our Supreme Court has affirmed this.

the policy of family separations continues

no longer at the border, but in the heart of America

and before our very eyes
1/ THREAD: This year ICE has sent a record 600 immigrant kids into federal shelters, more than in the previous four years combined. Data suggests some are being separated from their families.

For one 15-year-old, it began with a cracked windshield 👇

Loved the Mongolian team on Physical Asia because they had a folk wrestler, a male artistic gymnast, and a volleyball player. It felt like pandering directly to me. Including a judo-ka was just gravy at that point.

Interesting what ads you wind up getting on IG.
My personal account (older, maybe a more honed algorithm?) is a bit closer to my actual interests (help me clean the house, outdoors/hiking equipment etc).
Whereas my professional account (newer, far less used) is rife with right wing propaganda shit
I love ig ads telling me I’m adhd, ptsd, dopamine and porn addicted, and loaded with cortisol. it’s great and not blunt force brain trauma. honestly indistinguishable from an actual concerted campaign to make you feel like shit!

Sounds like a whole lot of people have completely fucked up on the first and second rules of the club.
Wow — Senators Van Hollen, Smith, Murphy, Sanders, Warren, Markey, Merkley, Heinrich have created an official internal "Fight Club."

They're challenging Schumer & Gillibrand's leadership, arguing the party is using an old, corporate-friendly playbook insufficient to take on Trump or win elections.

in an academic sense the purple end is the tip but visually it's the green end. these cannot ever be truly reconciled. in the same way that literally now means both literally and figuratively, you must simply accept the answer that its a single-ended double-ended phallus
Help settle a disagreement. Which end is the tip?

A 25-person startup is developing technology to block the sun and turn down the planet’s thermostat.

The stakes are huge — and the company and its critics say regulations need to catch up.

The story told here--one where anecdata suggests agency and autonomy have run amok and nameless activists are to blame--certainly rhymes with the NYT's disastrous panic about trans kids. Then you realize it's literally being written by the same author.

The New York "inflation refund checks" just feel pretty insulting, honestly. The max is $400. Most people you know are qualifying for half that or less. So a month's groceries or less.
