... so the idea that Trump could do even MORE damage while the fed gov is unmanned AND wanting to keep traumatized fed employees (including those just reinstated) paid makes sense to me, but I feel like I haven't heard Schumer make that case. Do other Dems not agree with this take or ... ?

American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

Jesus, this pull quote is SO on point...
Kamala Harris had a much-lauded network of door knockers that could supposedly swing the election. Why didn’t it matter?

"If there's anything that the Trump era has made clear, it's that an effective organization is absolutely no substitute for a deficient product."
After 2024, we need to rethink “ground game” completely

The first phase of the rapid-fire effort by Elon Musk and President Donald Trump to make cuts appears driven more by an ideological assault on federal agencies than a good-faith effort to save taxpayer dollars, two veteran Republican budget experts said reut.rs/4jZiqyf
Musk cuts based more on political ideology than real cost savings so far
Elon Musk's cost-cutting is targeting agencies disliked by conservatives, not major budget contributors.

And here it is: NYT reports that internal emails show that DOGE officials gaining access to Treasury data wanted to use it to pause USAID payments.

This underscores the arguments I made in the piece/thread below about why Treasury's defense of Musk's access is such a sham.
