The second companies cant pass the bill for power draw off on openAI and its VC backing that shit is gonna go up in smoke
Like, people need to be more annoyingly communist about this. The issue is big employers replacing labor, destroying training avenues for junior devs, and the environmental effects becoming externalities.
Im genuinely getting so fucking tired of it. I really don't give a shit if somebody uses copilot to generate a generic grass texture or uses copilot as glorified auto complete but I'm supposed to think these acts are morally equivalent to tossing a Molotov into a rainforest.

This never stops being true, but I’m not sure Ds have ever, at least in my lifetime, learned to apply it for good. *Creating* public opinion either never occurs to them, or if it does, offends their sensibilities? It’s exasperating

If you had seed capital you could play capitalism on easy mode in 80% of industries by just being 80s greedy instead of 2025 greedy but investors are scum who get hives when a company they invest provides any actual value to the world at all

Obama has always had 20x the political instincts of whoever is technically in charge of the Democratic Party
President Obama called Zohran Mamdani on Saturday — praising his campaign and offering to be a "sounding board" into the future.

Obama said he was invested in Mamdani's success beyond the election on Tuesday.

"Your campaign has been impressive to watch," Obama told Mamdani.

CachyOS does GREAT stuff in terms of being an almost placebo level of gaming ready tuning... But I can't recommend it because its still, fundamentally, telling new users to install an even more Niche version of Arch Linux.

Arch kicks ass but that should be your like 3rd distro.
where VRR on my DP monitor was totally broken due to kernel, vulkan, and Mesa updates.

At least you can look up the issue and see engineers trying to fix it, unlike the radio silence you get from Nvidia.
I'm saying this as somebody who had a mostly great experience with a 5700XT, played through DUSK on linux with it in fact, and I now have a 4070S just to see what CBT bullshit nvidia would put me through.

AMD open source is generally better, but I still had a few months on arch ...
but it'll be weird as fuck if we're talking 144 and 60 or something.

Nvidia's wayland support has come A LONG LONG way than even a year ago. Right now the major issue is DX12 performance, but Vulkan is getting a whole ass extension to solve that issue.
You *can* run at different refresh rates with X11, but the overall canvas that is painted as one big monitor can only run at one refresh rate. You can force X11 to make that canvas run at a specific refresh rate, but other monitors will drop frames. Which can work if you're running multiples of 60..

While reverse engineering loads of games, you start to see patterns. A big mistakes many devs made in the last 20yrs is decoding Bink videos as BT601 instead of BT709
Likely due to Bink docs not being updated from early 2000s

Mafia III has ~40m of videos, which one looks right to you?

"video games are woke now"

it's not profound or anything but remember how the original silent hill explicitly pointed out that the town's problems were spurred on by the collapse of small town america as people moved to the big cities for work and led to a drug epidemic?
You can get ntfs drives to be read properly by Linux steam, but if you let Linux steam run updates on games with big files. Expect file corruption. It's something to do with how NTFS handles fragmentation.

Direct copies of complete files will work fine.
You need a new new kernel and Mesa graphics driver.
Generally, I would recommend Fedora KDE which runs Wayland by default.

Mint is good! But it's going to be preferring older packages and older tech which is not what you want, especially if you're trying to run a gaming machine.

For example, if you have a new AMD card, mint will not work.
This is due to linux mint using the old x11 windowing system which can't handle different refresh rates.

Its replacement is something called Wayland but the transition between x11 to Wayland is like all of Windows Vista to 10 all at once in terms of breaking shit.

Really love the art for the Dark Knight in War of the Lions and wish they did a dark version for every class in Final Fantasy.
