I think one of the more unfortunate consequences to creators being more interactive with fans is that a lot of fans/fandoms normalized this idea that creators have to explain/validate every headcanon they have.

it is one thing for me to struggle to get a code as an adult but the way kids have been continuously locked out of pokemon in recent years baffles and abhors me. (TCG product scalping, nintendo no longer being the "affordable" console company, and now stuff like this...)
